I know Ava is very high up in popularity, but is Eve? And what could it be short for apart from Evelyn?

Simply, yes.

Not sure it works for Guinevere. The letters are there, yes, but not the necessary sounds.

Genevieve

I'm in Devon and know loads of Eves, or variants on it (Evie, Evelyn etc). Like someone else, a third of the girls in DS' reception class are called Evie, there are more in the other classes.

We know an Eve, two Evies, a Neve, an Eva, two Avas...

It's varients are very popular - there are 5 Avas and one Eva in dd's infant school. I had name regret for years.

However, my Eve is the only one in her primary school and on a positive note she loves the fact that her name is similar to some of her friends names. I guess it helps her fit in well. She also loves the meaning and history behind her name and that it has a special meaning to Mum and Dad. Phew - name regret lifted.
