Just came across this name in my baby name book. I quite like it but not sure about the pronunciation. How would you pronounce Roselyn?

Thanks :-)

ros er lyn?

WhatWouldBlairWaldorfDo · 12/02/2015 12:28

As above ros-a-lyn lovely name

youngestisapyscho · 12/02/2015 12:28

or should that be roz ah lyn??

Jackieharris · 12/02/2015 12:29

Rose-e-lyn but the middle e is very subtle, like a pause.

I suppose if I was saying it quickly I'd say rose-lyn

SweepTheHalls · 12/02/2015 12:30

Roz-a-lyn from me too.

ScrambledSmegs · 12/02/2015 12:33

Roz-a-lynn

Like Roselind, but without the d.

Laquila · 12/02/2015 12:36

Similar to Jackie, I think.

Rosalind is also gorgeous and, I think, easier to pronounce: Roz-a-lind.

HubertCumberdale · 12/02/2015 12:36

Either Roz-a-lin, or Rose-a-line (which I think is a bit more American?
Either way it's lovely and Shakespearean so I'm a fan.

Laquila · 12/02/2015 12:37

Just to clarify, I wouldn't pronounce it as "Jackie" - I meant I'd pronounce it In a similar way to the pp called JackieHarris! Hopefully that didn't need saying but you never know ;)

Lucaslovesfelicity · 12/02/2015 12:40

Mmm, I thought Rose-lyn when I first read it... similar to how I would pronounce Evelyn. Not as keen on the Roz pronunciation, as I prefer the shortening to be Rose, than Roz. Good to get people's feedback though.

Roz-uh-lin
But the 'uh' just like a tiny pause rather than a loud 'uh'.

Lovely name! Wish we'd thought of it for DD.

museumum · 12/02/2015 12:41

quite a well known name here (edinburgh) and ususally pronounced Roz-lin
with nn ros which is said more like roz.

Roslin glen just outside the city with Roslyn chapel (famous from the da vinci code) are all pronounced the same.

I'd say Roz Lin.

SirChenjin · 12/02/2015 12:46

Like museumum. It's pronounced ROZ-lin here.

ZenNudist · 12/02/2015 12:46

Roz-ah-lin

milkwasabadchoice · 12/02/2015 12:46

Rozzer- Lin.
But if you want it to be rose - Lin, just call her that and other people will have to do likewise

RiverTam · 12/02/2015 12:48

Rozalin. Like Rosalind without the 'd'.

TBH it looks a bit made-up in a deep south kind of way.

AuntieStella · 12/02/2015 12:58

I'd pronounce this spelling Rose-lin

If you want Roz, then the 's' is followed by an 'a' (like Rosalind) not an 'e', so Rosalyn for roz-a-lin

Zsazsabinks · 12/02/2015 13:52

My sister is called Jocelyn so my initial thought is to make it ross-eh-lin?! But thinking a little harder I suppose rose-lin? Not sure!

It's like a cross between rosalie and rosalind.

NadiaWadia · 12/02/2015 15:20

Wouldn't it be Rose-lin? If it was Roz-lin then there wouldn't be an 'e' in the middle, I would have thought?

Tattiesthroughthebree · 12/02/2015 17:03

Roz-eh-lin, with the emphasis on the "Roz" and the "eh" hardly there.

JazzAnnNonMouse · 12/02/2015 18:51

Roz a Lin

ChocolatePecanPie · 12/02/2015 21:12

Roz e lyn
