Robin?

I keep coming back to this name for our boy, but it's not popular at all - not that this is a problem, but I was hoping for something quite traditional but not 'out there'. What do you think?
We also have Jonathan, Michael and Mark on the list. They all sound a bit 'grown up' but then I'm not a massive fan of cutesy names, in case he turns out to be an accountant.
Our surname is Warren so I struggle with names that don't 'rhyme' with it - I guess Robin and Jonathan kinda do though?
Aargh!

I always think Robin sounds a bit of a 'wet' name'.

Cornberry · 07/02/2015 12:25

This is top of my list. I think it's fantastic. Classic, beautiful but uncommon. Other names I'm considering are
Edmund
Arthur
Edward
Gregory

Also love Jonathan.

I say go for it if you like it. Who cares if it's not popular? That's a bonus for me. Lots of names I like are too popular...

invisiblecrown · 07/02/2015 12:26

I love Robin.

And I'm not sure I'd call any of these Robins wet www.biography.com/people/groups/famous-named-robin

Not with the surname Warren. There's no way you can use it

Is it a rabbit warren? No it's a robin warren.

Robert?
Albert?

Love it Grin

lovelychops · 07/02/2015 12:29

Lovely name

ClementineAndCordelia · 07/02/2015 12:31

Love it - I've joined it to my list as I love Ruben but a friend has it . Robin might be the next best thing. I think Robin Warren rolls of the tongue nicely .

Sophronia · 07/02/2015 12:36

I much prefer Michael or Jonathan.

Bluestocking · 07/02/2015 12:44

I love it and it sounds right for a baby, a boy and a grown man, and Rob is a nice diminutive.

catsofa · 07/02/2015 12:47

I love it. Friend used it so I couldn't, but totally would.

Thesnowmansnose · 07/02/2015 12:53

I know 4 small Robins. Not so uncommon

Isolde85 · 07/02/2015 13:07

I love Robin. Is Peter too rabbity for your surname?? Very strong and not that common...

rockinrobintweet · 07/02/2015 15:11

I love Robin. my other fav boys name (which I used) is Jasper as they both fit my 'red' theme ?xx

reuset · 07/02/2015 16:02

Robert is better. Robin sounds like a young boy's nick name for Robert.

notmuchofaclue · 07/02/2015 16:47

Ha oh lord hadn't thought of the rabbit warren/Robin Warren thing!!

Warren is a bugger of a surname, nothing sounds right with it, before you even factor in the rabbit link. Lauren was always my favourite girls name...not anymore!!

I have a very dear friend called Robin, I think it's a lovely name Smile

ecuse · 07/02/2015 17:36

But... the Batman thing?

GingerLDN · 07/02/2015 19:42

I also find that name a bit wet (for want of a better word) as someone above said. I can't put into words why. It puts me in mind of someone a bit meek and timid I think.

CreepyLittleBat · 07/02/2015 19:47

The two Robins I have known (both teenagers) were built like brick shithouses and played rugby/did karate. Both absolutely charming!

SophieBarringtonWard · 07/02/2015 20:40

Its on my list!

BikeRunSki · 07/02/2015 20:44

Robin is a great name. It's fine with Warren; any silliness is very tenuous.

I have known a 5 yo Robin since he was born and it has ways been a good name. I also work with some older Robins - 1 at 25ish, and 2 at 60 ish. And all throughly nice chaps, always liked the name.
