4th Boy's name

Hellobump15 · 30/01/2015 13:04

I am expecting a surprise 4th baby due this spring.

We have 3 boys already for whom we have used 9 names between them, as they have all have 2 middle names. So as you can imagine boys names are proving tough!

We have a girls name decided Penelope Beatrice Betty, with Tabitha in reserve.

For boys we have a short list and I'd be grateful for any thoughts on them

Barnaby
Felix
Rufus
Rupert
Wilf (BC Wilfred)

Middle names are likely to be Edward Alexander Pip

Thank you

Another Wilfred lover here.

Rhubarbgarden · 31/01/2015 07:05

Wilfred.

baskingseals · 31/01/2015 07:44

Rufus. Can I suggest Jem, perhaps short for Jeremy?

Jackieharris · 31/01/2015 07:48

Felix

GiantGaspingSatanicCyst · 31/01/2015 07:59

Wilfred! I know a little Wild and he's fab.

Also like Rufus and Felix. Indifferent to Barnaby and really dislike Rupert.

GiantGaspingSatanicCyst · 31/01/2015 07:59

A little Wilf, of course, stupid tablet Hmm

LottieMumofWilfJenkins · 31/01/2015 08:10

I love the name Wilf(red) but i am biased!!! Wink

CiderRules · 31/01/2015 11:27

I love all of those! They were actually all on my boys names list - in the interests of narrowing it down though, DH vetoed all except Barnaby. My favourite would probably be Felix or Rupert though.

ChaosK · 31/01/2015 12:35

I've got a Barnaby Edward! So it wins for me (I wasn't allowed Rupert - which was my first choice). My Barney is now 17 and it is a great name for that age!

Hellobump15 · 31/01/2015 20:09

Thanks for the extra input!

Looks like some extra love for Wilf now. My reservation is that I love Wilf but am less sure about Wilfred. That said through my second son's pregnancy I much preferred the nn of his eventual name than the full version, but have only ever used the full version since!

Popularity does bother me to an extent having spent my childhood as one of several with my name in my school. With my first son we thought we had chosen an unusual only to find out it's a top 15 fixture & although I know it shouldn't but it did bug me for a long time. It had been my question mark over Felix.

The 'posh' association with Rupert doesn't bother me. Where we live that wouldn't be a problem.

If we did have a Barnaby, with 3 older brothers I think he's have a pretty thick skin by his teenage years anyway!

Barnaby and Wilf were contenders for our 3rd son so are perhaps the front runners as I know I've liked them over a period of time.

And sorry to sound precious about my other sons' names. It's just that people don't tend to get that excited by number 4. The name is the only real surprise so I don't want his/her name to be guessed by anyone who might know us

Thanks again

I'm still struggling with boys names so would appreciate your help again.

I think we're down to

Barnaby

Wilf (Wilfred)
Rufus

in that order.

The main problem is my husband doesn't like any of them really. As much as he's happy for me to have final choice this time, it bothers me to chose a name he doesn't like too.

And there isn't one I love and I really think a 4th boy deserves a name we love.

I also like Albert but it is a middle names for one of the other boys. That feels like it should make it an absolute no no?

We did named together for the top 500 and had no matches!

So any idea of name that we might like given we like these?

((We're still set and happy with girls names but I just 'know' we won't need one!)

What about William - Will instead of Wilfred - Wilf if it isn't quite right.

Have you thought about Nicholas or Dominic.

Has one of your sons got a middle name which you love and could use a variant of, rather than totally discount the name and it's various forms such as Lucas and Luke, or Benedict and Benjamin?

Bowlersarm · 16/02/2015 18:37

Oh yes, just saw your Albert dilemma. Alfred?

Morelikeguidelines · 18/02/2015 18:44

Benjamin.

In France it means the youngest child (or possibly youngest boy).

As in they say "he is the Benjamin"

Blondie87 · 19/02/2015 13:16

Rupert is my favourite by far!

bienemaya · 22/02/2015 10:29

Penelope

Rupert or Barnaby
