How long a process was it? Did you enjoy the name game? Was it stressful? Did you feel strange discussing it early on?

We have talked about it once it twice, from about 11 weeks, which felt v early to me! But I just wanted to find out what kind of names he likes! Would love to know how others felt about it.

DS was 10 weeks prem and we hadn't discussed names at all. We finally decided on his first name when he was 1 month old, by which time it had become a running joke amongst the nurses in his NICCU ward.

DD is due in 2 weeks. We have had some brief discussions from about 30 weeks, most initiated by me, and now have a short list. As often seems to be the case on this thread, DH is happy to veto, but reluctant to actually suggest anything!

Middle names for both DC were easy to pick, as have family significance.

With DC1, I insisted that we drew up a list at about 25wks. The day before DC's arrival, we had a shortlist of 4 girls names and no boys names - just as well baby was a girl. We agreed on her name a few hours after she was born.

With DC2, bounced around a few ideas but didn't agree on any! We agreed on his name a couple of hours after birth also.

37 weeks, still haven't discussed it at all.

Think the time has come to get the name book out or bump will remain that for life.

We started discussing names the day after my 2nd trimester scan once we knew that we were having a boy (although I'd already got a short list and had sounded a few names out beforehand, only to have them shot down in flames).

I'm finding it quite stressful as DH has very strong opinions on every name that I suggest but no suggestions of his own. It doesn't help that he doesn't want to decide on a name (or buy anything) until a lot nearer my due date as he thinks that doing these things will make it harder to cope "if anything happens". I'm only 23.6 for now so we have plenty of time but I'd quite like to settle on a name and stop calling the poor little bugger 'Tadpole'.
