Too fairytale?

And are there any nicknames?

It's quite Disney but not overly so as the Roman goddess pre-dates Sleeping Beauty by a year or two.

I think Rory could be a nickname but I hate Rory being nabbed as a girl's name so please don't!

LondonRocks · 28/01/2015 13:45

I like it.

Auri as nn.

invisiblecrown · 28/01/2015 14:56

Way too princessy.

IsadoraQuagmire · 28/01/2015 14:58

It's lovely. (There's an Aurora in "My Brilliant Career" by Miles Franklin who's known as Rory, but I wouldn't let anyone shorten it if it were my name)

Choccyhobnob · 28/01/2015 15:09

I used to think it was lovely, unusual but useable - then a friend used it on her DD and it just seems totally weird and OTT in real life....

IsadoraQuagmire · 28/01/2015 15:18

invisiblecrown Gosh, you'd hate my names then. I have 3 and they're all just as princessy as Aurora. I love them all! Grin

velvetmoon · 28/01/2015 15:37

I know an Aurora who goes by 'Rory' but she's a bit...fairytale, as you say. A bit odd, and the name really doesn't help. Not sure I'd use it after that, even though it's pretty.

invisiblecrown · 28/01/2015 15:42

Isadora I have a Mirabel. I'm not against typically 'girly' names, but using the name of an actual Disney princess is a step too far.

Sophronia · 28/01/2015 16:20

It looks nice written down but I find it quite difficult to say.

LondonRocks · 28/01/2015 16:25

How about Auriol? I know one, she's nice Smile

UriGeller · 28/01/2015 17:33

I really like it but, like Rory, its completely unusable as I have a slight inability to pronounce my 'R's, not as bad as Wossy but enough to make me shy away from those names.

squoosh · 28/01/2015 17:34

I think I'm with Sophronia actually, Aurora is quite an awkward name to speak aloud.

FelixFelix · 28/01/2015 17:34

I love it. Also love Rory as a nn.

DXBMermaid · 28/01/2015 17:36

It's my DD's middle name. I love it!
Xx

EyelinerQueen · 28/01/2015 17:37

Love it.

And as a Gilmore Girls obsessive fan I adore Rory for a girl.

myotherusernameisbetter · 29/01/2015 20:02

it sounds to me like the sound a dog makes whilst chewing a toffee.

3luckystars · 29/01/2015 20:16

roaring laughing at the dog eating toffee! I can hear it exactly. so funny!

myotherusernameisbetter · 29/01/2015 20:27

:o

Mouldypineapple · 29/01/2015 20:36

Pretty name. Unusual. Don't think I'd be brave enough myself.

I know one, a teenager. Her and her family are a bit hippyish. Other children have unusual names too. The girl herself has tattoos and an unusual style of dress but so do a lot of girls her age I guess. Think she is 17 ish.

I like Aurelia..

Tealady1983 · 29/01/2015 20:38

It's a range of glasses sponsored my lulu in specsavers Grin

Stars66 · 29/01/2015 20:39

No. Too alternative hippy dippy and I love hippy dippySmile

FelixFelix · 29/01/2015 20:40

I just proper laughed out loud at dog chewing toffee GrinGrinGrinGrin

myotherusernameisbetter · 29/01/2015 20:45

Not trying to be funny, and I have said this before, but Aurelia always reminds me of nipples....... areola - for that reason it's a definite "No" from me too.

Nolim · 29/01/2015 20:45

Lovely name

jamiemars · 30/01/2015 05:40

Aurora is not easy to say. It would be hard for others to address her. They'd end up just saying, "Hey, you!" to get her attention. One of my friends named her daughter Elora. It sounds like of like Aurora. I don't like it, though. How bout Dora? How about Arianna?
