You know how some names conjur images of the person. What image does Nina conjur in your mind?

OP posts:
Are your children’s vaccines up to date?
ch1134 · 10/01/2015 08:12

Intelligent. Maybe a bit babied.

GotToBeInItToWinIt · 10/01/2015 08:12

A bit hippy and alternative, but that's because both Nina's I know are like that! Very pretty.

GotToBeInItToWinIt · 10/01/2015 08:13

Ps it's my DH's ex's name so has negative connotations for me but despite that I still like it Smile

cuppateaandtoast · 10/01/2015 08:15

Cute

RedButtonhole · 10/01/2015 08:16

Very petite and very beautiful. Sharp witted but funny with it, clever and kind.

I only know one Nina, she is 87 but she is all of the above.

SummerSazz · 10/01/2015 08:16

I was considering nina and when I suggested it to dh he said no straight away. When I asked why ge said 'it was the name of one of Christopher columbus's ships'. Apparently that was sufficient to close the discussion.
I was left going wTF???? ConfusedGrin

I still like it Smile

Firstly, strong, independant...my friend Nina left home at fifteen, she's still not returned to England. I know she studied at an American College/University and works as a nurse now but not in America (the last time I spoke to her age had left Washington for the Virgin Islands.

Guin1 · 10/01/2015 13:33

Love it. It would be on our short list, but doesn't go with our chosen mn.

BTW, Columbus's ship was the Niña, with a tilde over the second n. So pronounced neen-ya.

Sundayplease · 10/01/2015 15:05

But middle-aged for me.

sighherecomesanamechange · 10/01/2015 15:21

Very delicate and small, blonde wispy hair, a bit insubstantial in personality.

CitronVert · 10/01/2015 15:23

Dainty and dark haired. Spanish looking with a severe bun like a flamenco dancer.

afreshstartplease · 10/01/2015 15:24

Petite, dark hair big brown eyes

Groovee · 10/01/2015 15:25

Having worked with 3 they were all brown haired but bright and lovely x

UriGeller · 10/01/2015 15:26

Small and slight and dark haired, Welsh? Even though she's petite she's really ballsy.

PrintScreen · 10/01/2015 21:16

Pretty positive images so far.

I'm a bit worried by the associations with being small though. I'm nearly 6ft so my daughter is likely to be tall too. Do people think that matters?

OP posts:
GotToBeInItToWinIt · 11/01/2015 07:49

If your DD is tall then people she knows will come to associate the name 'Nina' with tall people Smile

GotToBeInItToWinIt · 11/01/2015 07:50

Ps no it doesn't matter at all. No one is going to say to her 'what, you can't be called Nina, Nina's are small!'

Bonsoir · 11/01/2015 07:55

I'm not wild about Nina but it has the advantage of being very international (if that matters to you).

Pramula · 11/01/2015 08:03

I know two fantastic Ninas- adult and child. Lovely pretty name and I like the international-ness of it too. Def on my list.

SunshineAndShadows · 11/01/2015 12:32

Dark haired cornish, pretty, hippyish, smart, independent. Nina-bean

WesH · 11/01/2015 13:23

The Nina I know is bubbly and excitable

Marcipex · 11/01/2015 19:19

Petite, blonde curls, French.

sidsgranny · 11/01/2015 19:22

Pretty Ballerina! (i.e. the Abba song!). I do know a grown up Nina (late 30's) who is absolutely lovely. I think it's a great name.

pnutter · 11/01/2015 19:26

I know a tall Nina ..very intelligent and beautiful. I love the name.

PrimroseEverdeen · 11/01/2015 19:50

Gorgeous name! Check out the actress Nina Dobrev; beautiful and exotic.
