Just heard of a new baby called this and I think it's lovely, but I haven't heard it being used in so long.
Wondering what other posters think? Dated or classic?

Glad you've net a baby Judith. Every Judith I've met have been jolly nice. I've suggested it on other threads for those looking for the less 'flowery', stronger sort of girl's name. I like it.

WhiteHairReally · 06/01/2015 16:02

duh, 'met' not 'net'.

IdaClair · 06/01/2015 16:03

I think The Walking Dead. Zombie bait!

BlueChampagne · 06/01/2015 16:03

Classic. Jude/Judy cool NNs too.

MsMittens · 06/01/2015 16:03

While I like Judith - I guess it will often be shorted to Judy which always conjures up the image of Punch and Judy for me. Shame as Judith is a lovely name.

loislines · 06/01/2015 16:29

Judith is lovely. I like Jude too but the possibility of Judy as a nickname puts me off. Like Julie for Juliet put me off using that. If only you could guarantee people would use the full version!

squoosh · 06/01/2015 16:31

No I don't like the name Judith.

Although she'd manage the pickles and chutneys stall at the village fete without breaking a sweat and would be fantastic in a crisis. Good thick ankles too.

AllMimsyWereTheBorogoves · 06/01/2015 16:32

Judith is a lovely, strong name. I have a name that is often abbreviated. I like some of the abbrevations on other people, but not on me, so I've dealt with this by refusing to answer to anything other than my full name. Not that hard, actually.

mathanxiety · 06/01/2015 17:14

I love it, and you never hear it. I think it's a classic that belongs in the same category as Miriam.

myotherusernameisbetter · 06/01/2015 17:23

I like Judith and Jude, I've never heard anyone shorten Juliet to Julie - Jules maybe but not Julie - that seems to be more a name on it's own rather than a nn.

Rhubarbgarden · 06/01/2015 18:08

Very nice.

marshmallowpies · 06/01/2015 18:18

I like it, but sadly it's the name of a member of the family who is estranged (her choice). So it's a sad name to me Hmm

bluebelle2662 · 06/01/2015 18:48

I think it's truly hideous, I had to say. Sorry!

BikeRunSki · 06/01/2015 18:50

I have known a lovely Judith all my life, and met a few others too, but it is not a name I haver ever warmed too.

TheHorseHasBolted · 07/01/2015 20:48

I quite like it, but I wouldn't use it because it means "Jewish girl" and I'm not Jewish, so I'm not sure if that would be disrespectful.

SwedishEdith · 07/01/2015 20:51

The only Judiths I know are definitely Judith, never Jude. Don't like it at all.

Marcipex · 08/01/2015 10:37

Sorry but I'm with bluebelle

CrispyFern · 08/01/2015 11:21

Makes me think of zombies too.

AllMimsyWereTheBorogoves · 08/01/2015 12:50

Here's a brilliant Judith to be a role model.

MargeryDaw · 09/01/2015 19:25

Lovely, and I love Jude

KatieKaye · 09/01/2015 19:29

Lovely name.
Very strong and classic.
Knew a fabulous Judy (super smiley and kind) and a very, very nasty Jude, so guess which shortening I prefer?!
plus Hey Jude is such a boring dirge of a song

Cupcakes123 · 09/01/2015 19:31

Another one for zombie bait here!

ShadowSuperNova · 09/01/2015 20:05

I quite like it.

I don't think I've come across any under the age of 60. Maybe it's due a revival?

RubbishRobotFromTheDawnOfTime · 09/01/2015 20:18

It's a bit goody-goody. You're not going to get a rock'n'roll Judith, are you? More a Sunday School teacher.

Happypiglet · 09/01/2015 20:21

One of my best friends is a Judith. She has never had it shortened...she is lovely so I like it! And it is unusual today so there would not be three in the class!
