I would like to preface this by saying I am not expecting, so if you hate the name don't panic! No child is likely to be saddled with it any time soon Smile. I saw this name whilst looking through my family tree and I am thinking of tucking it away for future DCs but I want opinions first. It is the first not so popular name that I sort of like .

What do you think?

Please no.

DropYourSword · 05/01/2015 09:01

Seeing as how there's no bump yet...I really don't like it!

ChippingInLovesChristmasLights · 05/01/2015 09:03

Tuck it away :)

Then forget you ever saw it. It sounds like some dire, run down, town.

CaptainAnkles · 05/01/2015 09:04

Awful. Sorry. I just don't like first names that sound like they should only ever be surnames.

SoupDragon · 05/01/2015 09:04

Yes, tuck it away in a box never to be opened :)

PinkSquash · 05/01/2015 09:08

No way, as a PP has said, it sounds like a dodgy town.

ICanTotallyDance · 05/01/2015 09:09

Glad I have had some sense talked into me. Grin

I have been reading the baby names threads out of boredom today and clearly as they got wilder so did my own tastes. I will follow Chipping and Soupdragon's advice. I am ashamed as I don't even have pregnancy hormones to blame my choice on.

Might work as middle name?

FishCanFly · 05/01/2015 10:23

Very interesting!

DramaAlpaca · 05/01/2015 10:30

It would be OK as a middle name, but I'd go for the spelling Rainford which is a surname.

Reinford is a bit reindeer-ish.

ShadowSuperNova · 05/01/2015 10:31

as a first name, no. Definitely sounds more like a run down town than a child's name.

You might get away with it as a middle name though.

squoosh · 05/01/2015 11:21

Sounds like the name of a cad from a Georgette Heyer novel.

IsadoraQuagmire · 05/01/2015 12:16

It reminds me of Renfield from Dracula! I rather like it though...

ICanTotallyDance · 05/01/2015 22:30

Grin thanks everyone!

Warning bells should have sounded when on the family tree his sisters were named Zylphia and Sophronia.

Still, it must be better than when I was fifteen and thought Caspian (as in Narnia) was the best name I had ever heard

I should have name changed for this. How can I be derisive on other people's names threads ever again? I swear my taste in names is very normal otherwise.

ChippingInLovesChristmasLights · 05/01/2015 22:37

Oh my lord. Yes, it should have Grin. Still, at least you've seen sense now!

glazes over Caspian nonsense

Keep being derisive, I do so hate being lonely on those threads!! Grin

Iliveinalighthousewiththeghost · 05/01/2015 23:03

Well it's an interesting name which has been in your family, but I would study the meaning, because people will ask you.
It is quite a nice name, certainly different. Is it for a boybor girl.
I wouldn't really worry about teasing potentials. I've never known anyone to be teased for their name. I mean there are of course exceptions I mean you wouldn't name a boy Sophie for example

Selks · 05/01/2015 23:04

It sounds like a suburb of Godalming.

Pico2 · 05/01/2015 23:07

It sounds like a town in Essex. Obviously there is nothing intrinsically wrong with that but I wouldn't call a child Harlow either.

NeedABumChange · 06/01/2015 11:05

I quite like it, sound ass though he's some brooding character from a Victorian novel. Although not sure it works for a baby!
