I'm expecting dc2 but am keeping the sex a surprise. Convinced we are having a girl though!

I absolutely love the name Daphne, always have but also like Adriana.

Interested to hear your opinions! I like uncommon but not mental names Grin

Daphne is a bit of a dippy name. I like Adriana - what would it be abbreviated to?

TimefIies · 02/01/2015 18:03

Daphne is lovely - unusual, pretty, Brits in general will know how to spell it Smile

...and you could plant a daphne bush in the garden for her, which will smell lovely Smile

Adriana - very pretty but also a strong sounding name.

squoosh · 02/01/2015 20:20

They're very different. Daphne is quite Miss Moneypenny whereas Adriana is more Pussy Galore.

Sundayplease · 02/01/2015 20:22

Daphne sounds like a joke name like Mavis.

I know an Adriana. I like it.

BonnieWeeJeannieMcCall · 02/01/2015 21:34

Daphne makes me think of Daphne Broon. But if you don't live in Sunday Post territory, that won't matter.

flowerygirl · 02/01/2015 22:02

I like the idea of shortening Adrianna to Ady (as in Ey-dee)

My heart belongs to the name Daphne though!

Now for the middle name! Should I go for something old fashioned like Violet? Or something more modern?

I have a Daphne Violet. Love it! Perfect name :)

Artandco · 03/01/2015 22:18

Daphne

Could Delphine be a contender?

annoyedofnorwich · 04/01/2015 00:14

Ariadne?

Rhubarbgarden · 04/01/2015 09:37

I love Daphne Violet. Adriana is too fussy for me.

midwinternights · 04/01/2015 18:22

Is Adriana pronounced like Adrian (long A sound at the beginning as in say, may etc) with an A? Or ah dree ah na? I'd have guessed ay dree ah na

eatyouwithaspoon · 16/01/2015 18:33

I worked with an Andrena (Ann dreen ah) not sure how its spelt which I always thought was lovely, I do like Daphne too

HiawathaDidntBotherTooMuch · 16/01/2015 18:39

Adriana. Would only ever think of pronouncing it Ade-ree-Anna.
