Seren, Elsie or Nuala ???

Sorry but the awful abadas on cbeebies had put me right off seren. I'm not sure about Welsh /irish/Scottish names unless you've got some links to it. Each to their own though. So I'm saying Elsie but maybe tis cos I'm English and it's a family name.

Basically though, it's what you think that matters.

Seren is the only one I like, it's beautiful.

Elsie is very much a granny name to me, and Nuala is its Irish equivalent. I've never met a Nuala under the age of 70.

How do you pronounce Seren and Nuala?

If Seren is pronounce like seren-ity (I hope that makes sense!) then I really like it I've never heard or seen the name before.

They're very different names.

In Ireland Nuala is on a par with Doreen and Mavis in the cool name stakes. Granny NON-chic!

Seren is the welsh word for star, I think it's a nice name but very popular where I am (South Wales so hardly surprising)

I think Nuala is really pretty too , but with being English i have never heard of the name before. Being told it is the equivalent to Doreen has put me off haha

I know 2 baby Elsies born locally this year! My guess is its an up and coming name.

I'd go for Erin myself.

Seren is nice, but very close to Sienna. My favourite is Elsie, but maybe as a nn for something like Elspeth?
