Are we saying 'yay' or 'nay'?

I love it - but am opening it to the MN jury. Xmas Grin

Yah.

It's not a name I would gush over but a nice name and it doesn't ring any alarm bells. Fits a child and adult, works in all situations.

Go for it!

windingbrook · 17/12/2014 22:38

I like you

I know a Halle. I like it.

manicinsomniac · 17/12/2014 22:57

I like it.

I might be tempted to spell it without the i as I think it then becomes confusing with Hayley. But that could just be because I know a Hailie who is always getting called Hallie.

Only1scoop · 17/12/2014 22:59

Dd favourite character in Doc McS....I like it

CountingThePennies · 17/12/2014 23:00

I know some who has just named their child Halle. Shes named after halle berry as apparently her husband really likes her.

Not a name i would pick

windingbrook · 17/12/2014 23:01

Halle looks like Hal to me :) Hallie is more clearly Hall-lee.

But the Hayley/Hallie thing is potentially a source of annoyance.

I'm saying yay. I like it.

FrancieHurley · 18/12/2014 01:39

Yay, but I like Hailie a little bit more. Are pronouncing the same?

SellMySoulForSomeSleep · 18/12/2014 01:50

Yay for Halle. I know a baby Halle. Very cute. i'm not sure about Hallie though. I agree it might end up being pronounced Hayley.

LJBB1 · 18/12/2014 02:40

I know a Hallie. She gets Hayley once in a while, but generally it's fine.

Fuckmath · 18/12/2014 02:44

I prefer Holly but Halle is nice too.

It makes me think of The Parent Trap with Lindsay Lohan Grin

If I see Hallé (or Halle) I don't think of it as a girl's name - I think of the orchestra.

BlueStarsAtNight · 18/12/2014 03:23

Haha Polkadots it instantly makes me think Parent Trap too!

Personally Hallie is too much of an American name to me, I always read it in an American accent, and it's not to my taste, but I prefer Hallie to Halle.
Halle makes me think Hal, but Hallie I think is quite obviously Hal-ee.

windingbrook · 18/12/2014 07:27

I am exactly the same BlueStars

Halle = Hal
Hallie = Hal-leigh

Plus Halle has strong connotations with the actress.

FreckledLeopard · 18/12/2014 15:43

I think of the comet Hale–Bopp. Not a massive fan. Sorry.

Deerhound · 18/12/2014 15:55

I vote yes

VioletVelvet · 18/12/2014 16:04

I quite like it! Slightly prefer it spelt as Halle though.

BreeVDKamp · 18/12/2014 20:07

My name!! YAY from me!

howardbear · 18/12/2014 22:18

i love it, would have been used if DS was a DD!! we were going to spell it Halley (I read a point horror book as a teenager and remembered the name from that, also spelt Halley)

Melonhead11 · 21/12/2014 12:18

I know a Halle, she gets Hal from everyone is that makes a difference?
