What do we think of...

First and middle names. Middle names are family names, and our last name is 2 syllables starting with an S.

Cody James
Brodie James
Elliot Patrick
Anthony James

I am beyond sick of thinking of names. Due in 10 days, and DH is now also so sick of us not being able to agree that he has told me to just pick whatever... which has made it harder!

DD likes Cody, I like Brodie, DH likes Anthony, and Elliot is just a random choice.

Any other suggestions will be gratefully received!

Anthony Patrick!

fancyanotherfez · 03/12/2014 20:01

I like everything except Brodie. I would say that my DS's middle name is James, as is virtually every boy in his class-it seems to be the -Mae of boys names, if that bothers you!

Madamecastafiore · 03/12/2014 20:03

Cody and Brodie sound like STIs.

Madamecastafiore · 03/12/2014 20:03

Elliot is nice and not over common.

myotherusernameisbetter · 03/12/2014 21:51

If you live in Scotland then everything everyone has said about Brodie doesn't apply.

I'd go for Elliot or Brodie (if you are in Scotland), Anthony is fine but I'm not keen on Cody. I know 2, 1 is a cat and the other is a girl.

Bobby1234 · 03/12/2014 22:16

Elliott x

Thisvehicleisreversing · 04/12/2014 00:30

I only know female Brodies. Confused

Elliot James is lovely though.

Sophronia · 04/12/2014 10:13

I like Anthony James. Not a fan of Elliot at all.

Belazu84 · 04/12/2014 16:42

I actually like Brodie. Not Cody though.

NaiceNickname · 04/12/2014 17:08

Thanks everyone. Responses as expected really! Tbh I don't love any of the names, just bloody desperate at this stage.

I have exhausted every baby name book/app/website I can find and nothing is grabbing me. Maybe I'm thinking about it too much, I just remember the feeling when we both decided on DDs name and feel a bit sad that we haven't had that for DS.

I want something different but not too out there, by different I don't mean 'unique', just uncommon, but when it comes to boys name it seems that the uncommon names are just that for a reason... they're mostly awful!

sigh

I really like Brodie . Makes me think of someone really cool

Lunastarfish · 04/12/2014 18:14

Elliott Patrick

myotherusernameisbetter · 04/12/2014 18:33

Are you looking for a few suggestions then OP?

Do you know it is definitely (as far as can be established) a boy? Maybe better just waiting until he arrives and choosing.

Names with a similar feel to those on your list:

Blair
Keir
Austin
Lyall
Gregory/Gregor
Cormac
Nicholas
Frederick

Can you say what your daughter is called as that might give more of a feel for your taste?

Singmetosleepzzz · 04/12/2014 19:27

Careful of initials BJ!

RaisingMen · 05/12/2014 20:47

I love Elliot James, or Patrick. I'm not so keen on Cody or Brodie.

ButterflyOfFreedom · 05/12/2014 22:33

Anthony James - lovely!

Anthony was on our shortlist. If you are looking for more suggestions we also had:
Nathan
Leon
Hayden
Christian
Dominic
Zachary
Marcus

I also like Ciaran, Amos, Owen, Simon, Rowan, Linus, Jared, Caleb, Silas and Joel.

MildDrPepperAddiction · 05/12/2014 22:43

Please not Cody or Brodie. They are awful.

Elliot is by far the nicest.

iwouldgoouttonight · 05/12/2014 22:59

I love the name Elliot, although DP wasn't keen so we didn't use it. One of my friends has a Bodhi, which is very similar to Brodie but avoids and Homeland connotations. Other suggestions that are uncommon but not weird:

Fran/Frankie/Francis
Rocco
Caleb
Toby
Jesse
Stanley

Toucanet · 06/12/2014 01:33

Cody sounds American to me. Patrick, Scottish? Brodie I would have thought a girl's name but perhaps I'm thinking of Birdie. Can't go wrong with James and it gives a choice of what/whether to shorten it, just that will be more James around?

SurfsUp1 · 07/12/2014 22:38

What about Arlo? It's unusual without being weird or made-up or too dated.

Leo?

Rohan?

Nightstar · 07/12/2014 23:01

Have you said them all out loud? When I did I found that Brodie James had a wonderful ring to it. He sounds famous already.

Mutteroo · 08/12/2014 02:01

Brodie Elliot?

Not keen on James as a middle name.

itssangriaoclock · 08/12/2014 11:29

Elliot James is a very strong masculine name

Lweji · 08/12/2014 11:37

First, relax. Wait until the baby is born and you may find the name that suits him.

I don't dislike any. They all sound find to me, so even if you pick one at random I think it will be ok and once you decide you'll get used to it.

I wanted to call my son one name, but my sister used it first, so I went for my second choice, and quite frankly I hardly remember I used to want that first name for my son and his name sounds natural.
Don't get too stressed about it. :)

NaiceNickname · 08/12/2014 20:25

Ok so I think... think we have settled on a first name. Can I just get opinions on which middle name flows best with it please? Smile

Leo Alexander
Leo James
Leo Patrick
Leo William

Thanks for all opinions so far Thanks
