Girls name help!

I am 28 weeks with DC3. We have a boys name picked but have absolutely no clue for a girls name. We want something that is ideally not in the top 100 or pretty low down if it is. We have a shortlist but I'm not loving anything if I'm honest! Here is what we like and agree on so far-

Eloise
Elodie
Corinne
Carla
Genevieve
Meabh
Aoife

Any opinions? Any other ideas?

Eloise - quite like it
Elodie - like it
Corinne - not keen
Carla - it's ok. Much prefer Clara and Cara
Genevieve - love it
Meabh - is this said like Maeve? Quite like it if so
Aoife - really like it

From your list I'd go with Genevieve

Love elodie & Eloise, we had them on our list but think they'd get shortened to Elle or Ellie which I don't like.

I know sisters called Maeve & Aoife! Much prefer this spelling of maeve.

Macushla? Gallic origins too. A beautiful song sung by tenor John McCormac (Rufus Wainwright version terrible).

florascotia · 29/11/2014 21:12

Macushla isn't usually used as a name, it's an English version of a Gaelic endearment, combining the words for 'my' and 'pulse'. Poetically, it means 'my dearest' or 'my darling'.

The original song is lovely.

bluewisteria · 29/11/2014 21:27

Oh I'm pretty sure it is used quite commonly in Ireland. And it is our eldest daughter's name! Although we live in England. We generally call her 'Mac' though.

florascotia · 29/11/2014 22:08

Very, very romantic to be named after a love song!

Like Eloise. How about Corinna instead of Corinne?

How about Kerenza, Demelza or Tamara?
