Fleur?

I think it's so pretty but is it usable with no French connection whatsoever? And apparently there is an X Factor contestant called Fleur - will people remember that?
Any general thoughts on the name?

No, people will not remember the X Factor contestant.

Can you name every X Factor contestant? She won't win or become 1D famous. She'll fall into the abyss asap.

Fleur is very pretty and I wouldn't worry at all at the lack of french connections. It's not like it's an old, country French name that nobody over 80 has ever heard of - and even if it was, it's still your choice.

Personally I don't think Flora is an alternative. (to me) it doesn't share the same artistic direction as Fleur :) even though the subject and initial are the same.

My first thought was Harry Potter. It's still a very pretty name.

DH does keep saying 'Delacour' everytime I suggest it.

I think of Fleur Forsyte, rather than the one in Harry Potter, which probably just shows my age. I think it's very pretty, and I wouldn't worry about the french origin - after all, even Emma was originally a French (or rather Norman) name.

It's a name that will be sweet and pretty when she is a little girl, and cool and sophisticated when she is grown up.

I have a Fleur , I loved it and still do. She's eight now and pretty as a flower.

Agree with 'sounds like a noise rather than a name', I'm afraid.

It may be French and mean 'flower', but unfortunately I don't think that makes it pretty.

I think it's beautiful. My ds's friend is called Fleur and she is a lovely little girl.

I love the name Fleur my only worry would be the "having to always spell it" but that is the case with so many names now.
