Florence, Charlotte, Leila or Freya?

I'm really struggling with a girls names for dc2. We have a one syllable surname so feel it needs to be something longer. DH likes Florence but not sure I love it. Dc1 is called Henry and I'm worried they'll sound like an old married couple!

Which is your favourite from these four?

Thanks all, interesting to see opinion's pretty split! Seems like Charlotte has the majority overall though.

Wheresthattoo I'd pronounce it Lay-la though prefer the spelling Leila. I know it doesn't sound like a great fit with Henry, but I keep coming back to it for some reason, it just sounds colourful and pretty to me.

I do like Charlotte, esp with the nn Lottie, but it has been used in both our families before, so maybe a bit boring.

Florence is my DHs favourite, and I do like it, but it's becoming really over used and probably a bit conservative.

Freya would bound to be shortened to Frey...not sure about that.

Hmm, perhaps I'm overthinking it all! So indecisive! Any ideas for names I haven't thought of that would go with a short surname? X

Well only because I have one and if I had a boy I would love the name Henry- I think they flow nicely but I would say Georgia.
Henry and Georgia sound so perfect in my mind :)

I like Florence and Leila best. Freya I don't like, I don't like capital 'F's. Charlotte stands out as the odd one out in the names I think, can't explain why.

sunflower49 · 09/11/2014 21:42

Lol obviously Florence is a capital 'F' , too. I don't even know what I mean! I don't like the sound of Freya, for some reason. I think it sounds a bit like a brand of margarine. (I should be on the irrational dislike of names, thread).

Florence, Freya are lovley
Charlotte quite nice/classic but a bit boring
Leila difficult to pronounce / spell

TsukuruTazaki · 10/11/2014 00:31

I really like all of them.

My favourite is probably Freya then Charlotte.

Leila I don't think works as well with Henry.

GotToBeInItToWinIt · 14/11/2014 08:22

Love Charlotte, Freya and Leila so not much help! I think id go with Charlotte though. DD's middle name is Charlotte and I regret using it as a middle name because id like to use it if I have another DD.

Elizadoesdolittle · 14/11/2014 14:38

I love Florence but DH isn't sure (expecting DC and already have 2 girls).

I also love Charlotte but again DH not sure Confused

I did like Freya (was on list for DD1 but have gone off it).

Henry is on our list if it's a DS so we obviously have similar tastes.

Charlotte

solstice930 · 17/11/2014 09:45

My little girl is Leila! I've had a few people pronounce it 'Leela' but I just correct them, no big deal. We get lots of compliments on it, and I think it sounds nice with Henry.

RubMyLamp · 17/11/2014 11:26

I really dislike Leila and Florence.

Love Freya and Charlotte.

I also love Henry but DH doesn't like it at all! I want a Henry!

bakinggood · 17/11/2014 11:28

Charlotte

DecaffTastesWeird · 17/11/2014 15:12

I really like Layla, but wouldn't know how to pronounce Leila... Lee-la or Layla?

Also love Florence and quite like Charlotte too.

Freya is a bra as far as I'm concerned, although I keep hearing it yelled across supermarkets (sadly it doesn't sound too good in the accent where I live).

Chatty987 · 17/11/2014 15:55

Charlotte then Leila

BrambleBee · 17/11/2014 17:52

Ah thanks solstice, I was thinking that maybe Leila would be a less 'traditional' name which would balance out Henry.

Haha decaff perhaps you're right!

I'm thinking probably either Charlotte Leila or Florence Leila. Just need to convince DH!
