Hello all. I'm having trouble with picking a name for my third baby. I have a boy and girl already called alex and paige. Me and my hubby have complete different opinions on names and are really struggling to agree. I like traditional names like benjamin and Jamie for a boy and he likes geese ( sounds like geys). For me it's too wacky, what do you think? He also likes Scott and Grayson.

Ass for girls we like megan, lily, Harriet, Elizabeth and Katie. My hubby likes Sarah but I'm not too keen. Which do you think goes with alex and paige?

Opinions greatly appreciated x

DH says Geese is from king of fighters. Surely that can't be serious? I mean would you name a kid Gruul or Gandalf?

TwoLittleTerrors · 09/11/2014 14:04

Or some other fighter games!

Does he mean this ? Sort of thing that might come up in a game. Not really a name, though.

Yes it is from the computer game! He really thinks it is a cool name though, I think it is bloody awful! Every time I suggest a normal name he says it's boring but there is just no way I could live with geese!

Ah now that is just completely unreasonable and very short sighted of him.

What is his name and how many problems has it caused him over the years as opposed to the problems a name like Geese would cause?

Names are not supposed to be earth shatteringly exciting. They are supposed to carry you through life in such a way that people take note of you and remember you and don't get distracted by the oddness of your name or come away from an encounter with you scratching their heads and wondering what your parents were thinking.

mathanxiety · 12/11/2014 03:04

And there is a lot of happy medium between a name that every second child has Ella or Jack for instance and a wacky choice like Gees. He needs to think of something reasonable. There are thousands to choose from. Maybe look at the second hundred names in the UK Most Popular Names of 2012-2013 if you want names that are recognisable but still not over-popular.

The names that popped into my head when I thought "Alex, Paige and ..." were Henry and Frances.
