Olivia - too popular?

We are thinking of naming DD Olivia, calling her Liv, Livvy mostly rather than her full name. I just don't want to have lots in her class at school. Thoughts?

I think Livia would look as if you were trying too hard to be different from Olivia but still somewhere in the neighbourhood. I think if you love a name it doesn't matter how popular it is -- she will be your Olivia in the end.

Olivia/Livvy/Liv is a beautiful name.

The most important thing is that you love the name, it doesn't really matter if it's popular or what other people think.

DS2's name is a classic & very popular, but we loved it so much we couldn't imagine calling him anything else. Never regretted it.

Olivia Skye would be an absolutely lovely combination.

Only one Olivia in DD's school. Beautiful name ;)

Livia I really like (think Colin firths wife is called it?) Olivia is very popular and not as pretty in my opinion
Lucia is a similar vibe to livia as a suggestion.

I have a 9 month old Olivia (Livvy) and she's the only one I know!

3 at nursery it is very popular....

CheerfulYank · 04/11/2014 22:02

It is popular but I like it. :)

How about Liviana?

MrsBungle · 05/11/2014 09:34

It is popular but it's nice. I love Skye.

Emily - our comments ring very true. With DD1, I had a name I loved and went with it, without consulting any guide on how popular it was. It didnt matter as I loved it. I am also wondering whether to go for something slightly more ususual (Skye) as I do like it and it is less common. Just not sure if I am trying to talk myself into it as it's a bit different. Not sure if I would regret this? Or just go for Olivia. I have always loved this name but never thought I'd call DD it. But for some reason it seems to be almost the one at the moment.

Think I wil steer clear of Livia - causes too much unnessary confusion in the UK.
