I'm a child of late seventies early eighties and have many peers called Victoria or nn of
It's a classic solid royal name yet in comparison to Alexandra / lexi / Alex or Elizabeth/ Lizzy/ lib etc I don't hear of any babies called Victoria... Is it just here or is it underused and out of favour?
What else fits in thus category?!

Oh, "Trick" as a nn made me lol!! I know it as slang for a prostitute or in some cases, what a prostitute does: "turning a trick."

I love the name Victoria. Would have to be either Vicki or Tori for a n.n though as I'd be too lazy to say the full name. My daughter is Molly but she's know as Mol. When I call her Molly, she knows she's in trouble! so If I'm too lazy to say a five letter name in full I'd certainly be too lazy to say an 8 letter name in full.

Wishfulmakeupping · 04/11/2014 07:45

It's on my list if I have a dd2 really like it but dislike Vicky so I may use it as a middle name so it can't be shortened

ignominious · 04/11/2014 08:01

Love the name enough to use it but hate Vicky and Tori.

oneowlgirl · 04/11/2014 19:16

I really like the name but there are no babies / toddlers / older children around here called it (my eldest is 8 & don't know older kids really )

CountBapula · 04/11/2014 19:20

I know a Victoria who's about 18 months old. It's cute on her.

Cullercoats88 · 04/11/2014 21:31

Love the name as victoria, dislike all NNs that go with it...definitely has been cheapened by some awful tv characters (just in my mind)

Wishfulmakeupping · 04/11/2014 21:48

I like tori as a nn but they would end up vicky by secondary school I'm sure

lebkuchenlover · 05/11/2014 15:45

I really like Victoria - sounds pretty and feminine.

I don't like Tori at all, sounds like a member of the political party!

looki · 05/11/2014 17:42

I like it a lot but dislike ALL it's nicknames. Therefore would never use it.

itfcbabe · 06/11/2014 08:42

I'm Victoria born mid 70's,i an Vicki to everyone. The name is growing on me as i get older more than Vicki is.

DaffodilField · 06/11/2014 11:56

I like it - due a comeback along with Elizabeth, Catherine and all names royal. Also maybe Anne.

Sleepingtom · 07/11/2014 22:47

I love the name Victoria. Everyone I have ever met called Victoria has been lovely, funny and great company. Great nickname options. Vicky is not at all inevitable, none I know are called it as adults. Though I like it especially for a little one then could shorten to Vic. Or lengthen to Victoria!

Sandberry · 07/11/2014 23:28

It's still in the top 100 so not that uncommon. I think the nicknames might put people off though. I think Vika the Russian short form is the best of them personally.

OhMyActualDays · 08/11/2014 22:31

My name too, early eighties. It has never occurred to me I have a name of my time before! I am Vicky at work and to friends, but family hate it. On the whole Victoria or Vicky are not names I would choose, but ai guess it's my name... Usually call myself V so I suppose that says something!

burgatroyd · 09/11/2014 08:54

How about Veronica? Thats a lovely name and underused. Very or Ronnie for short

burgatroyd · 09/11/2014 08:55

*Vera!

TheNewStatesman · 09/11/2014 09:53

Tora is a nice nn.

MsJupiter · 09/11/2014 10:27

Love Vita as a nn for Victoria.

sashh · 10/11/2014 09:52

I think the 'problem' is that the mothers are either called Victoria or they were at school with one. It just seems odd to give a baby a name that was common when you were a child.

cherrybombxo · 10/11/2014 11:37

I don't mind Victoria (I have a cousin with the name) but I really, really hate Vicky. I knew a Tori which is a bit better but she was absolutely awful, loud, chavvy and violent towards other people at our school so it has coloured the name for me!
