Hi I'm pregnant with my first child & am really stuck with names. Opinions please Smile

These are my options so far, there seems to be more girls names I like than boys....

Boys

Joshua-Jak

Jaylen

Girls

Jolie-jae

Jolie-Marie

Lila-Rae

Amerie

What do you think?

I like Joshua for a boy.

Not keen on girls names.

Joshua or Jack are nice (no hyphens, spelt properly).

Lila is also nice.

I really dislike the hyphens, and don't like Jaylen, Jolie or Amerie.

Sorry, they are all awful.

I like Jack spelt the normal way.

RiverTam · 03/11/2014 16:58

Joshua
Lila

but on their own.

Joshua is nice or Jack (spelt properly).

Lila is lovely and Marie is very nice.

They all would be so much better without the hyphens!

And you know Jolie means pretty in French, right? I am sure she will be, but still it's a bit awkward as a name.

ParsleyCake · 03/11/2014 20:43

No offence, but out of all of them the only one I think doesn't sound tacky is Amerie

MorelliOrRanger · 07/11/2014 13:05

Lila and Joshua are the best two on there.

TempsPerdu · 07/11/2014 14:23

Joshua and Lila are both OK. Amerie is pretty, but could easily get confused with Anne-Marie/Amelie/Emily I think.

Really not a fan of hyphenated names - not for snobbish reasons, but because I think it takes away from the individual names and makes them less memorable. I'm a teacher, and tbh when you have lots of children called things like Lila-Rae/Lila-Rose/Lily-Mae/Lily-Grace/Ellie-May etc in your class the names are easily muddled up and almost become interchangeable. Doesn't help that it's always the same few names (Ellie, Daisy, Lily etc) that end up being hyphenated. It's almost like pick-and-mix!

DecaffTastesWeird · 07/11/2014 15:09

Sorry really don't like any of them...

I like Jack ok and Lila is alright too, but not keen personally. Sorry, that's probably not much help is it?!
