Phoebe?

Is it nice? Boring? Will it date?

My niece of 7 is a Phoebe and I love it

I loved it and it would have been a favourite if my DS had been a dd, named after a great aunt. That was 20 years ago though and the association with the Friends show spoiled it a bit for me.

I like it.

Nice meaning, good history behind it, although I have a suspicion she shagged her brother.....anyway, moving on........it's a pleasant name to say aloud. Don't think it will date.

I don't like it. I think the spelling of it is a bit ugly tbh.

I really like it, my 3 year old has just started nursery school and one of her "bestest" friends is called Phoebe, it's gorgeous when you hear it said out loud.

I love it! My 16m old is Phoebe, everyone says how lovely it is! A few struggle with spelling though.

I like it and I know 2 lovely girls with that name.

I love Phoebe, it's one of my favourite names. I always think of it as a sunny, happy sounding name. It's been popular for a good 20 years so I don't think it will end up particularly dated.

I don't like the sound of it at all, sorry. Sounds so feeble and unfeminine to my ears.

I knew a couple when I was a little girl and there are a couple around DCs' school.

Elegant and timeless IMO - it's one of the few names that is very feminine but still has strength.

Not my favourite. It sounds too much like feeble to me. But, I know it's getting very popular and every one I know is really lovely. It just doesn't sound pretty to my ears. But then I like very frilly names!!! If you love it, go for it. I suspect I am in the minority. Congratulations.

Love it - as with Hebe

I have one and we love it. We chose it because it's classic and well-known without being ubiquitous and we also liked the meaning. Reactions have all been positive. Easy to pronounce, less so to spell if that bothers you.

I like the way it sounds but not the way it looks on the page! Weird I know. I feel the same about Chloe.

It's a name I am considering. DH doesn't seem to like it.

Classical, strong yet feminine.

I like it as a name in isolation, but it's very much a 'go with the herd' type name. Nobody ever used it until Friends, and then people used it because everyone else was using it.

So its popularity would put me off.

I don't know about that. There were 3 Phoebes in my primary school, so to me it's always been a name that was around but not overly used.

I know a few Pheobe's under the age of 10, I don't have feelings on it either way tbh but it sounds like a strange noise rather than a name to me.

Hahaha. In fairness I think that was pretty common in ancient Greece.

I love the name Phoebe! It is on my shortlist.
