Discussing names with DH earlier. Either sex. We are fussy... these are the qualities we both agree on!

I love Georgia but DH reminded me that some would pronounce as 'Jaw-jah' and that really put me off!

Quite like androgynous names too- Charley, Alex etc.

Ideas?!

I know a Tomasin - Tommie /Tom for short.

Surfsup1 · 13/10/2014 04:24

I just always think of Ray Charles singing Georgia On My Mind

moxon · 13/10/2014 05:10

It's a tough call, better

Bettercallsaul1 · 13/10/2014 08:15

Reckon the OP nailed it with Elliot - it's got a bit of polish.

Pebbles0934 · 13/10/2014 09:48

Cassidy? Was boys name now girls.

TinklyLittleLaugh · 13/10/2014 09:54

My never-got-to-use girl's name is Bobby, short for Roberta, also like Jenny, from Jennifer or even Imogen.

VoyagerII · 13/10/2014 10:03

Stevie, as in Stevie Nicks
Alfie is sometimes used as a girl's name
Jeanie
Or call her Georgia but nn George.

Fizzyplonk · 13/10/2014 10:05

I love unisex names for girls.
DD1 has a unisex name and am currently expecting Dd2, am finding it difficult to find another girls name that matches well.
Suggestions so far have been,
Alexandra - Alex
Leah - Lee
Harriet - Harry
Ashleigh -Ash or Leigh
Bernadette - Bernie love this, but am completely alone
Francesca - Frankie
Robin
Sydney

My favourite for unisex nicknames is Joe/Jo. It's obvious if it's a girl or a boy written down but said out loud it's not clear, and Jojo or Joey it cute too.

looki · 13/10/2014 13:00

I'm confused over the Georgia thing?

I'm trying to say it in my head but because I'm concentrating on how I pronounce it, its garbled!

I've heard it pronounced George Ja and George Ah.

OP I know a Gia - would it fit your criteria?

cremedecacao · 13/10/2014 18:55

RIGHT! The Georgia thing... basically we have family in Essex and I don't like the way Georgia is pronounced in that accent. I didn't want to admit that so I tried to explain it but clearly couldn't! Sorry if I have offended anyone!!! Blush

Surf, there are lots of Georgia songs, that is a big part of the attraction.

Great suggestions- Pants, I like Bernie too!

I also like Stevie and Jeanie. Is Stevie short for anything?

I have Dsis Billie and DSis Charlie.

In 18 years I'm yet to come across another female Billie.

ItsFunnierInEnochian · 13/10/2014 19:11

DSis Billie is an identical twin to Annie, just throwing that in the mix.

Highlandbird · 13/10/2014 19:12

I know a girl called Ellis, only saw it as a boys name before but it really really suits her!

gamescompendium · 13/10/2014 19:13

Billie Piper

cremedecacao · 13/10/2014 19:19

I can see Ellis as a girls name. I like Erin too but I know a baby Erin already.

VoyagerII · 13/10/2014 19:39

That reminds me I also know of a girl called Innes (Innes not Ines) which I think is fab.

TheBogQueen · 13/10/2014 19:40

Vita

KatieKaye · 13/10/2014 19:50

Stevie (for a girl) is short for Stephanie. Or you can have Steph.

I know a lady in her 70s who is called Ellis, and it really suits her too.

Elliot just makes me think of ET going "Eh-lee-ott"!!!

BlueChampagne · 14/10/2014 13:47

More unisex names:

Lindsay (and all variant spellings)
Julian
Leslie/Lesley
Ashley/Ashleigh
Hilary
Jude

You might also like Morven, Vashti or Meryl for a girl, or Conrad for a boy.

BogeyNights · 14/10/2014 13:56

bettercallsaul1 Grin

MummyBeerest · 14/10/2014 14:06

I actually love androgynous names. How about:

Lee/Leigh
Blair
Blaine
Sloane
Fallon-no one I know ever likes this, but I totally do.

RunnerHasbeen · 14/10/2014 14:39

Willa for a girl, even sounds okay in an Essex-y accent!
Jem, short for Jemima?
