We have been struggling with a boys name and have finally agreed on Flynn. As we don't know any Flynn's, and we want to keep it secret from those we know, I'd be keen to gauge general reactions! Also, any suggestions of middle names with more than 1 syllable, would be gratefully received!

I like it, but suspect it will be confused with the 9 million Finns out there.

AntiDistinctlyMinty · 12/10/2014 21:19

I like it. The only Flynn I can think of is Flynn Rider from Tangled too Smile

sunnybobs · 12/10/2014 21:20

I've taught a Flynn :) lovely name, lovely boy. I hadn't heard it before but it's gorgeous.

Jooster30 · 12/10/2014 21:21

Thats sort of where it came from. Really like Finn, but there are just too many at the moment. Wondered if changing it slightly might make a difference...

I think there is a danger than you will spend most of your child's life saying "No F-L-Y-N-N" but only because it's an unusual spelling and tbh I have a very normal name and people still spell it wrong...

findingherfeet · 12/10/2014 21:30

Ooohh I like it!!

TheBooMonster · 12/10/2014 21:31

I can see a quite traditional name going with Flynn to balance out the unusual edge like Flynn Joseph but it does really depend on your surname...

SecretRed · 12/10/2014 21:32

Really like Flynn. I wanted it for ds2 but dp wasn't keen.

wattlegirl · 13/10/2014 02:37

I really like Flynn. A good choice in my humble opinion.

Suggestions for middle name:

Flynn Alexander
Flynn Isaac
Flynn Carson
Flynn Mitchell

minkah · 13/10/2014 02:41

Flynn is a nice name. The perennial question will be "oh, are you Irish?"

nooka · 13/10/2014 02:48

Makes me think 'in like Flynn', although I'm not sure it's a commonly used phrase any more.

hlc123 · 13/10/2014 10:01

It's a great name, I have a Flynn Xavier.

ThinkIveBeenHacked · 13/10/2014 10:04

I like Flynn.

Id go for Flynn Elliot Surname

RiverTam · 13/10/2014 10:07

I like it and I think most people know it's spelt Flynn these days, surely. Don't know any either (though I don't know of a single Finn either, where are these names popular? I never seem to have come across half the names that are spouted as being too popular on MN).

MustHaveMoreTea · 13/10/2014 10:21

Since I just commented on Augusta, how about Flynn Augustus? Regal. :)

Lunastarfish · 13/10/2014 10:22

I love Flynn! If you change your mind what about Fletcher?/

WhereHas1999DissappearedToo · 13/10/2014 10:32

Flynn's a lovely name.

squoosh · 13/10/2014 10:38

Know lots of people with Flynn as a surname so doesn't work as a first name for me.

JiltedJohnsJulie · 13/10/2014 10:41

Sorry, another one who thought it was Finn/Fynn.

MiddletonPink · 13/10/2014 10:52

Much prefer Finn.

LittleBairn · 13/10/2014 10:55

I like it a lot.

Squirm · 13/10/2014 17:58

Finn is much nicer. Flynn is too surnamey.

Snowmonkey77 · 13/10/2014 18:22

I like it. Walter Junior in Breaking Bad briefly calls himself Flynn when he is rebelling against his dad.

Irishkez · 13/10/2014 19:08

Flynns a fab name. My brother has a Flynn and he is very rarely mistaken for Finn so don't let that put you off.
