Danger is my middlename

A friend is considering calling her son John Danger Smith for the sole reason that he can utter the immortal words "danger is my middle name".

Which got me thinking...

What other fun middle names are there?!

Bille Joe Armstrong, from Green Day, and his wife Adrienne did this with their youngest son, he's Jakob Danger Armstrong.

squoosh · 08/10/2014 10:41

I've heard of someone doing this too. It's a bit 'I'm mad I am, guess what I called my kid. Go on guess, it's hilarious.'

CabinetSauvinyoni · 08/10/2014 10:44

I know a little boy with "Awesome" as his middle name!

Merrylegs · 08/10/2014 10:45

Someone I know did this. DS has a similar idea middle name, but in my defence it's a family surname so completely justified (and v cool).

TessOfTheFurbyvilles · 08/10/2014 10:56

Computer had a funny, and somehow posted my message too soon, and then froze.

I also wanted to say this...

I can imagine it might get tiresome after a while, to have to explain that yes, Danger really is your middle name.

As for other "fun" middle names.

I know someone who had a particular brand of sweet as her middle name - well the singular of the brand name - think pastel colored candies with messages on them.

The novelty of it wore off in her teens, and as soon as she reached 18, she legally dropped it and adopted two new middle names (the names of her grandmothers).

FruitBasedDrinkForALady · 08/10/2014 11:04

Not a middle name, but we seriously tried to convince my friend to call her son Max. His surname is Power. She was sensible and didn't.

PinkyAndTheBump · 08/10/2014 11:50

I tried to convince someone to give the middle name of "Skye" to their daughter Isla. Or Jura, Lewis, Arran, etc.

DD has Dorothy as a middle name. After my grandmother, but there is the bonus of being able to have firstnamedotlastname as an email addressGrin

amy83firsttimer · 08/10/2014 12:04

DH wanted Slash as a middle name for current bump, as in GnR Slash. Also sounds like there's punctuation in the name.

Inkspellme · 08/10/2014 13:20

I do know of someone who put in "the great" as their son's middle name.....

minipie · 08/10/2014 13:41

I knew someone with surname Arber. Middle name Pearl.

My grandfather worked with a woman whose son was Ryan Coke.

moggle · 08/10/2014 14:57

I know someone with the surname Hunt who were going to give their DC1 the middle name Treasure if it was a girl and Fox if it was a boy. It was a boy, they used Fox. They thought it was brilliant. Everyone in the family thought it was a bit stupid and TBH three years later I think they do too. I guess Fox is better than Treasure though.
This is the kind of thing that you joke about during the pregnancy, especially with your first, but if you actually did it, it'd probably become embarrassing telling people, rather than funny...

Guin1 · 08/10/2014 15:16

Not middle names, but I taught a boy called Thomas (Tom) Morrow. And knew of another called Joseph (Joe) King.

cowbiscuits · 08/10/2014 15:48

maki79 that's such a beautiful story!

moxon · 08/10/2014 15:49

Smile snowflake!

HamAndPlaques · 08/10/2014 19:55

Have you seen the episode of How I Met Your Mother where Marshall and Lily gave their child the middle name 'wait for it...'?

Petallic · 08/10/2014 20:03

I very nearly used it as a second middle name for my first, partly due to his dramatic entrance into the world and I'm still toying with the idea of adding Godzilla to my DDs name as a second middle name when I eventually get married - I read somewhere that you can change DC names when you marry. I figure as a second middle name then DC can drop it for most things and it's a cute family joke.

Kittykatmacbill · 09/10/2014 16:14

It might be less hilarious, when as an adult, they have to use their passport for security clearance, or ID for work, or apply for a visa etc...

Thurlow · 09/10/2014 16:17

I know someone with the middle name Danger.

It's one of those things I can imagine getting less and less amusing as time passes...

Plus what if they grow up to be a shy, retiring type?

Aherdofmims · 11/10/2014 20:58

I know of a child with middle name danger and their brother's middle name is integrity. There is another similar named sibling but I can't remember what the name is - discretion I think.

I've taught a Crystal Ball (first name and surname!)

Anjou · 12/10/2014 06:32

I agree with Squoosh; it's very "Don't worry about me, I'm just a bit MAD & WEIRD, me!". It's the sort of thing I imagine Colin Hunt from The Fast Show doing.

I don't think I know anyone with remarkable middle names. Plenty of remarkable first names though.
