Leo wouldn't be shortened to Lee, would it?

We wouldn't shorten it, and you'd have to be really lazy not to bother pronouncing the "o", right?!

(Tell me to stop nitpicking a perfectly nice name choice...)

It's a nice name. Don't worry.

Thanks for the reassurance, Lab Smile

No, never heard it shortened. If anything, I'd expect it to be lengthened - Leeeyyyoooh - but only in a nice way. It's a lovely name!

Ludways · 03/10/2014 22:21

Never heard it shortened, always Leo.

Delphiniumsblue · 03/10/2014 22:22

It depends what he likes when older. If he is happy with Leo that is what he will get.

RhinestoneCowgirl · 03/10/2014 22:24

DS has a mate called Leo, never heard him called anything other than... Leo!

Delphiniumsblue · 03/10/2014 22:24

You can't really predict- DSs name can't be shortened, but he has always been called something different by his friends! He likes it.

Coughle · 03/10/2014 22:25

We know a Leo. Always Leo. Great name and a brilliant kid.

sunnyrosegarden · 03/10/2014 22:29

Two Leos at our school. Both called Leo.

Delphiniumsblue · 03/10/2014 22:31

I have never known a Leo called anything but Leo.

CointreauVersial · 03/10/2014 22:32

Great name. Would have been DD2's name if she had been an S. Never heard it shortened.

pieceoftoast · 03/10/2014 23:21

Thanks all, this was my thinking. Of course he can change his name to Crap Bag (remember that? Wink) when he's 18 if he so chooses but I can't imagine shortening a three-letter, two-syllable name, and just wanted to check I wasn't in the minority. It seems not! Although Lee is perfectly nice, it feels like a totally different name to Leo, which I really do love.

Thanks

You never can tell. DS shortened his best mates name. Think Joe, shortened to Juh.

CountBapula · 03/10/2014 23:29

I have a Leo and I affectionately lengthen his name rather than shorten it (my nickname for him is Leopold).

pieceoftoast · 03/10/2014 23:35

Count, we lengthen our DS1's name too, to something quite ridiculous and posh-sounding Grin

Not in the 7 years I've had one, no.

TurquoiseDress · 04/10/2014 10:55

Not at all!

I like Leo as it's a great name in its own right and it can't be shortened to anything else.

Leo can be used as short for Leonardo

Don't worry!

TurquoiseDress · 04/10/2014 10:56

Or short for Leopold!

DogCalledRudis · 04/10/2014 11:05

Leo and Lee are completely different names

NickiFury · 04/10/2014 11:08

No. I've got a Leo and no one has ever shortened it.
