Harlie Rae Coughlin.

Thoughts?

I really dislike it.

Gemerama82 · 01/10/2014 15:47

Pretty dreadful sorry, both first and middle name.

Couldn't you go with something like Hayley or Carly that sounds similar but are proper names and maybe Rachael for a middle name? I can't say I'm a massive fan of those names either but Hayley Rachael Coughlin (for example) would be a lot better than Harlie Rae Coughlin in my opinion. I'm sorry to sound snobbish but Harlie Rae doesn't sound very 'respectable' to me Blush

pilates · 01/10/2014 15:49

Awful.

squoosh · 01/10/2014 15:50

Grin Confused at the name not sounding 'respectable'

Gemerama82 · 01/10/2014 15:53

Well it's an honest opinion Squoosh. I believe that is what the op is seeking. I can rephrase that and say it sounds tacky to me if that's better. I am avoiding the c word...

juneau · 01/10/2014 15:54

Its awful. Sorry. Its just chavvy. Why Harlie, for goodness sake? Do you like motorbikes? If so, go for Harley. But just don't - seriously. It will disadvantage your child for life.

Gemerama82 · 01/10/2014 15:55

Agreed June. Thats what I am trying to say when I say it doesn't sound respectable.

squoosh · 01/10/2014 15:57

Hmmmm, I think 'tacky' is less offensive than 'respectable' to be honest. A name can certainly be tacky but it really doesn't give any indication as to a person's moral fibre, whether they're respectable or not.

mymummademelistentoshitmusic · 01/10/2014 16:00

Harlie Rae? Naff naff naff. Poor thing, just don't.

Gemerama82 · 01/10/2014 16:02

It's a name that gives a negative first impression however you want to dress it up.

squoosh · 01/10/2014 16:06

I wasn't dressing anything up I was just amazed that someone could deem a name to not be respectable enough. You'd swear the name in question was Funtime Babs.

EhricLovesTheBhrothers · 01/10/2014 16:10

Harlie is bad. Harley for a girl could work but please drop the Rae.

Gemerama82 · 01/10/2014 16:11

No, you're nit picking. OP asked for opinions. I gave mine. I wanted to avoid using the word chavvy as have been blasted for that previously on here, so I tried to explain what I meant a different way.

squoosh · 01/10/2014 16:13

It isn't nit picking because someone disagrees with you. Toughen up or choose your words more carefully.

PatriciaHolm · 01/10/2014 16:17

Sounds like a second-rate country and western singer! Who can't spell.

mathanxiety · 01/10/2014 16:46

Harley Rae is fine.

Harlie with the ie ending I would avoid.

Floggingmolly · 01/10/2014 17:01

It's pure trailer trash. Sorry, but it is.

Leeds2 · 01/10/2014 17:36

Would most certainly not be my choice!

AWombWithoutAFoof · 01/10/2014 17:51

I love Rae as a first name, but don't like Harlie/Harley, sorry.

SpringBreaker · 01/10/2014 17:54

Awful. Looks like c is missing off the beginning. Sounds like a z list celeb which isn't a good thing.

impatienceisavirtue · 01/10/2014 18:25

Awful, sorry

WomanScorned · 02/10/2014 07:35

I've seen it spelled Harleigh-Rae. I tried not to judge, I really did...
