Juno or Phoebe?

If you had to pick?

I've always loved phoebe but..

I work with someone who has a Phoebe and it sort of puts me off in case people think I've copied her!!

We also loved Grace and Isobel.

Noticed Juno on here and thought it was a lovely name with a nice meaning.

Don't want to choose a name and blame pregnancy hormones though!!

Dh likes both!

Lots of Phoebes round here. What about Iris, Artemis, etc as other classical names?

Alyx80 · 28/09/2014 21:53

I love Juno.

burgatroyd · 28/09/2014 21:57

Juno. Then Phoebe

Hassled · 28/09/2014 21:58

Phoebe.

MollyBdenum · 28/09/2014 22:03

Juno.

girliefriend · 28/09/2014 22:08

How about Juniper nn Juno?

MollyBdenum · 28/09/2014 22:16

DC2 would have been Ginevra nn Juno if he had been a girl.

losthermind · 28/09/2014 22:19

Juno hands down
I love that film

serialgrannie · 28/09/2014 22:24

Juno is horrid and so is Phoebe (a lifetime of mispelling).

But Isobel Grace is delightful. She can be anything, do anything, with a name like that.

ElephantsNeverForgive · 29/09/2014 10:07

Yes, it's prettier, Isobel/Isabel/Isabelle Grace has it's spelling nightmares too.

HesterShaw · 29/09/2014 10:22

There are a million Isobel Graces. I'm not usually one to avoid a name because it's popular, though it's entirely academic as I am childless, but really every second girl has Grace as a second name these days. And there are a plethora of Isobels, Isabelles, Izzies, Isabellas etc etc etc.

Juno is cool. Short, snappy and full of character, though I admit I MAY be slightly influenced by the film :o

HopefulHamster · 29/09/2014 14:27

They're both nice names. I might go for Juno as more unusual and easier for kids to spell.

Grace and Isobel are perfectly fine but super popular.

ellenjames · 29/09/2014 14:57

I have a phoebe and only know of 1 other. She is 9 now so don't know if it has become more popular since she was born.

velvetelvis · 29/09/2014 16:01

Not that it will help you choose, but I know sister called Phoebe and Juno! :)

MiddletonPink · 30/09/2014 08:53

Juno by a long shot.

Never liked Phoebe. Not the way it sounds or looks written.

SweetTeaVodka · 30/09/2014 09:31

I love Juno. Also Juniper as mentioned by a PP above. Quite like Phoebe too but not as much, and as someone who works with children let me tell you it's quite popular in the under 5's at the moment, though not nearly as common as Isabel and all it's variants. Grace/Gracie is also very popular, if that sort of thing matters to you.

DecaffTastesWeird · 30/09/2014 17:18

I like Phoebe and Grace but as pp said they are quite popular... It wouldn't stop me necessarily if I have a girl as I can't think of any LOs named Phoebe or Grace, only adults.

FreckledLeopard · 30/09/2014 18:11

I have a Phoebe and I must say, the spelling issue is a massive pain! No-one can get it right! Over the years we've had 'Feeby', 'Furbie', 'Pheebie' and of course, 'Pheobe'.

It is, though, a wonderful name!

twinjocks · 30/09/2014 19:45

Juno

Mammanat222 · 01/10/2014 14:18

Not at all keen on Juno, sorry. It just sounds too cutesy and twee for my liking.

minniemaus · 01/10/2014 14:21

I'm not keen on either, sorry. I find Juno masculine sounding (and reminding me of a sumo wrestler for some reason) and Phoebe sounds too much like feeble. Hope you don't mind my honesty.

feelingmellow · 01/10/2014 14:27

Juno makes me think of a very overweight person...or a hippopotamus

cherrybombxo · 01/10/2014 14:33

I hate Juno and Phoebe, sorry.

I love Grace and Isobel though.

Bonsoir · 01/10/2014 14:35

Both are incredibly unglamorous. Fine if she is going to grow up to be a librarian (will they still exist?)...

HesterShaw · 01/10/2014 14:44

That's where perceptions differ obviously. In my head a Juno is a smart, witty, crop haired pixie type with cool boots and an interest in politics and putting the world to rights.

Some names people rave about on here I think are awful. I absolutely hate for example anything ending in "ie" e.g. Millie, Tillie eurgh! And as for Matilda. Sorry for any parents of Matildas, but in my head they are fat, spoiled little girls constantly falling out with their friends and whining.
