What are your thoughts on these names? What "vibe" do you get from them?

Thanks in advance!

Hello OP!

Personally, I prefer Aurora from your shortlist. It's quite a cool name, and slightly edgy (in a good way). Unfortunately, I have heard that some small children struggle to pronounce it due to the 'R' sounds. Another reason why I prefer Aurora is simply because I know how to pronounce it, and I'm not sure how to say Sula, I'm afraid! Is it pronounced as Sue-la or Su-lla? Smile

I'm looking for something cool/edgy/quirky, so I'm glad you get that vibe from Aurora. I was thinking that it may be too frilly which is something I don't want.

I'm not sure about Sula yet, I only heard it for the first time today. I pronounce it as Sue la!

Aurora.

It would have been my choice for a girl.
Nuff said.

Aurora

minipie · 18/09/2014 18:45

I think I'd go with Sula. It's short, unusual and feminine all of which I like.

I find Aurora a bit too "princessy".

Sundaedelight · 18/09/2014 19:25

Sula, less of a mouthful than Aurora, and very pretty too.

RustyDalek · 18/09/2014 19:35

Sula is the name for a genus of seabirds which includes boobies, such as the blue-footed booby, Sula nebouxii

I love Aurora, and you can use Rory as a nickname.

blueberryboybait · 18/09/2014 19:47

I love Sula, I know one who is a teenager and she suits her name.

BookWorm37 · 18/09/2014 19:48

Sula is also an Indian wine (which is really nice Smile).

SunshineOutdoors · 18/09/2014 19:49

That bird is cute

Mouldypineapple · 18/09/2014 19:51

I like Aurora. But I really like Aurelia which is similar so that's probably why!

ThatBloodyWoman · 18/09/2014 19:52

Sula.What a fantastic name!
Makes me think strength-warrior-connected to the elements.

Aurora -so sorry, but makes me think Disney.

blueberryboybait · 18/09/2014 19:53

The Sula i know is named after the Sula Sgeir Island.

ralinax294 · 18/09/2014 20:22

Sula is much nicer.

squoosh · 18/09/2014 20:24

I'd be honoured to be named after that gorgeous blue flippered bird! What a cutie.

Lornacharlotte · 18/09/2014 20:32

I like Sula, strong but also feminine. Find Aurora a bit airy fairy.

RiverTam · 18/09/2014 20:35

Aurora is a Disney Princess (Sleeping Beauty)

Sula - isn't he a character in Star Trek.

Not keen on either, for those reasons - sorry!

girliefriend · 18/09/2014 20:39

Romeyroo · 18/09/2014 20:55

There was a Sula at DS's nursery; she was just the most adorable little girl. I really like the name too.

Gemerama82 · 18/09/2014 20:57

I knew a sula and it was pronounced shoe-lah

dyslexicdespot · 18/09/2014 20:59

Sula is a lovely name. Have you read the book with the same name by Toni Morrison? It is excellent. I would love to meet a girl/woman named Sula.

CordeliaClementine · 18/09/2014 21:01

Never heard of the bird.....not sure if it puts me off.

I thought Sula would get slated but it seems to have got a lot of positive comments.

Aurora

KatieKaye · 18/09/2014 22:20

Sula makes me think of the books by Lavinia Derwent, where it is the name of an island or the boat that takes tourists round the Bass Rock.

It's called after a gannet.
