Would you assume they had spelled Ronan wrong?

I have never seen this spelling before but a friend of mine has named her ds this and I'm wondering if it's a popular spelling.

Hmm, Ronin with that spelling is more usually describing a samurai warrior whose lord has died.

I haven't seen it used before as a name.

Does it sound distinctly different from Ronan the way she says it? I didn't immediately think of Ronan when I saw it. I do think it sounds like something from a fantasy novel though - LOTR or something.

I thought Ronan

There's a film called Ronin, a car chase Robert de Niro thing. Maybe it's inspired by that.

badtime · 15/09/2014 13:30

Yeah, I wouldn't know if it meant a Samurai without a master or a parent who couldn't spell 'Ronan'.

I prefer Ronan or Robin, both of which are lovely names.
