Have decided I love this name.

Is it too old fashioned? And does it matter we have a close friend with a Lauren (I think of them as quite different names)

I love it.

Iliveinalighthousewiththeghost · 13/09/2014 00:37

I love it and you don't hear of it now. Laura and Lauren are two completely different names.

Toucanet · 13/09/2014 01:33

Completely different names. Lauren was quite popular a while ago but less so now, Laura's always been around, neither common or uncommon (I only know 2 of each anyway). But both classy/classless & easy to spell so either would get my vote!

TsukuruTazaki · 13/09/2014 02:01

Gorgeous and not too old fashioned. It's classic and underused ATM.

LaceyLee · 13/09/2014 07:10

Love it, much nicer than Lauren or even Lara

AlpacaYourThings · 13/09/2014 07:12

Sorry, I really dislike Laura. I wouldn't say it was too old fashioned, though.

3pigsinblanketsandasausagerole · 13/09/2014 07:16

Dislike Laura

Love Lauren

Lauren was on my list for dd, oh said it wasn't a "baby name"

Alisvolatpropiis · 13/09/2014 13:46

It isn't old fashioned but I know bloody loads in their mid 20's. It is by far the most commonly heard name. Closely followed by Hannah.

AlleyCat11 · 13/09/2014 13:51

I'd consider it an 80s name in the same realm as Louise, Vicky or Sarah Jane.
My name is similar & I don't like when it's mistaken for Laura.
Also - Laura Ingalls.

BackforGood · 13/09/2014 14:03

I think it's lovely
Ticks all my boxes of being a "proper name", not too common at the moment, but everyone will be able to read it or spell it.

It's completely different from Lauren due to the way they are pronounced Smile

Timeless and classic.

pommedeterre · 13/09/2014 14:45

I wanted to use this if ds had been dd3. Love it.

Hpparent · 13/09/2014 14:49

I really like it and would have used it but my sil has that name - so there would have been 2 Laura (surname) in the family and she is not popular with in laws etc.

squoosh · 13/09/2014 14:55

I think it's a bit boring.

gamescompendium · 13/09/2014 17:40

Also - Laura Ingalls

I would say that was a plus, female writers were a good inspiration for names in this house.

Anyway, I love the name Laura, have an old friend whose daughter (now a teenager) called Laura, possibly one of my favourite names. I'd say it was a timeless classic.

TravellingToad · 13/09/2014 20:27

timeless classic I'd say not too common but not old fashioned

DramaAlpaca · 13/09/2014 20:30

Love it. Beautiful, classic name.

Frikadellen · 13/09/2014 20:32

Good solid classic name. My cousins name and I remember my uncle telling me they picked it because it was international.

BlueChampagne · 13/09/2014 21:44

Gorgeous and timeless

Rivercam · 13/09/2014 21:49

Love it

Kaekae · 14/09/2014 11:46

For me it is a little plain. I would opt for Lara. Smile

ABlandAndDeadlyCourtesy · 14/09/2014 14:09

How is Lara less plain than Laura?

(I like Lara too, though not as much)
