Twin names Quinton and Finley (Quinn and Finn), are they too matchy?

Hi all,

We are due to have twin boys very soon and really like the names Quinton and Finley, but I'm worried that they sound a little too alike. Just wondered about people's opinions about this, or can you suggest any other alternative names to go with either the above? Thanks!!

Yes, they are too similar IMO. My SiL gave her two DDs rhyming names and they were teased all through school. As soon as they legally could, they changed their names. Please think again :)

I like Quinton, IMO I would chose it but not shorten it to Quinn.

Elllimam · 07/09/2014 03:36

I think too matchy too sorry :/

Whooshtheyweregone · 07/09/2014 03:44

How about Quentin instead?

Homebirthquestion · 07/09/2014 05:52

They're the couple from Glee.

Coughle · 07/09/2014 05:54

Quinton and Farley
Quincy
Quimby
Fenton

But definitely not Quinn and Finn!

Athrawes · 07/09/2014 06:03

Too match.

Cheeky76890 · 07/09/2014 06:05

rymes too much but what about quinton and Fred or frank or floyd

milkysmum · 07/09/2014 06:10

No they will get teased I think

Kantha · 07/09/2014 07:21

Too samey. Sorry.

Quinton and Ferdinand - Quin and Ferdie

Where I live there are a lot of Fins; the odd Flynn (which sounds very similar when they are all in the same class, and a fair few Freds. It's enough to put me off F names for boys. For that reason I would probably not use Quinton either as people will hear "Quinn" and may mishear as another Fin.

sonniebonnie · 07/09/2014 08:12

Both great names. But I agree that the nicknames Quinn and Finn are too matchy, sorry.

How about Frederick (Fred) or Albert (Albie) to go with Quinton?

We have Quentin btw whose nicknames include Quenny or Quin. I think that goes better with Finley.

whycantifindaname · 07/09/2014 08:15

Yup, too close.

Chopchopbusybusy · 07/09/2014 08:16

Quinton and Finley are fine but Quin and Finn sound terrible together.

MrsBungle · 07/09/2014 08:17

Too matchy.

whycantifindaname · 07/09/2014 08:17

What about Cormac and Finley "Mack and Finn"?

thatsn0tmyname · 07/09/2014 08:19

A bit twee

Nearlyteatime · 07/09/2014 08:23

Not that this should necessarily put you off, but you know that Quinton is an area of Birmingham don't you? Personally I'd go for Quentin and steer clear of rhyming names at all costs.

sonniebonnie · 07/09/2014 09:33

Agree, Quentin is much nicer (biased Smile)!

QOD · 07/09/2014 09:50

They're lovely

SnakeyMcBadass · 07/09/2014 09:52

No, too twee and matchy.

Cruisefan · 07/09/2014 10:17

Thanks for all of your comment. Ohh yeah, I didn't even think of Glee! Lol. Some nice suggestions to ponder over on here now though!

Twins are cute and matchy, I know of twins called Buddy and Buster .... Quinn and Fin are gorgeous names

Only1scoop · 07/09/2014 13:06

Yes a wee bit cutesy matchy for my taste....

squoosh · 07/09/2014 14:14

HELL no to Quinn and Finn!

WaffleWiffle · 07/09/2014 14:25

To make it slightly less matchy matchy, what about:

Quinn and Flynn

If it wasn't for the fact that this is apparently a Glee couple (I don't watch it, so wouldn't have known) then I do quite like the matchy matchiness of twin names like Quinn and Finn/Flynn
