Margot
Phoebe
Edie
Romy
Iris

Any other suggestions along these lines also much appreciated!

Thanks x

What a lovely list. My favourites are Iris and Edie, I think they go well with Arthur!

manicinsomniac · 19/08/2014 14:58

Margot - don't like it. It's quite different though, I've never met one.
Phoebe - pretty, I like it. And there's always a few around but not too many.
Edie - sweet and pretty but I would use Eden or Edith on the bc
Romy - like it
Iris - like it
Cecily - it's ok. Prefer Cecilia

Sounds like you like old fashioned names that are coming back into common use?
So, how about:

Annie, Alice, Agnes, Audrey, Adele, Andrea, Bessie, Bonnie, Blythe, Bronte, Bridget, Clara, Carla, Cora, Cassie, Connie, Constance, Celeste, Carrie, Cynthia, Celia, Dora, Dilys, Diana, Deirdre, Ellen, Elsie, Elsa, Esme, Enid, Florrie, Frances, Flora, Faith, Gayle, Gloria, Hazel, Hope, Hilary, Ida, Ines, Ivy, Joan, Jane, Josie, Janet, Joy, Joyce, Jocelyn, Jacinth, Judith, Judy, Justine, Kay, Lillian, Lucinda, Mabel, Meg, Mary, Maria, Margaret, Nina, Nancy, Nora, Orla, Olive, Peggy, Polly, Pearl, Posy, Phyllis, Phyllida, Ruth, Rita, Ruby, Rhona, Sorrell, Sylvia, Sylvie, Susan, Sally, Susie, Simone, Stella, Tilly, Tess, Teresa, Trudy, Una, Vera, Winnie, Willa, Wanda, Yvette.

Love Margot and Cecily, they really spring out, Cecilia would be my choice though (Margot and Cecilia were on my shortlist).

Edie, Romy and Iris are brilliant names, they sound like 3 fantastically fun sporty sisters.

Phoebe. Sorry, i don't like at all. I just think of her being called "Feebs" for the whole of her life.

AnythingNotEverything · 19/08/2014 15:10

Lovely names!

For me though, Margot, Edie and Iris cause me to stumble a bit when said alongside Arthur. This might just be due to my northern accent. This also might not bother you!

I think my favourite is Phoebe. I don't mind the "feebs" thing at all.

Lucy90 · 19/08/2014 15:36

I love Cecily, we are having it for our daughter due in december. And it was my nans name aswel Smile

VickyU · 19/08/2014 16:52

Cecily sounds nice but don't like meaning.

I like Margot but spelt like Margo.

RemusLupinsBiggestGroupie · 19/08/2014 18:06

Love Edie and like Cecily. Dislike Romy and Margot.

VickyU · 19/08/2014 21:28

Not keen on Phoebe or Cecily.

Like Margot and Iris the best.

I offer you Pearl and Marnie.

Iris

Also Maude sylvie Ada

crazylady321 · 19/08/2014 22:30

Iris from your list

callipygian00 · 19/08/2014 22:36

Love Pheobe (wouldn't mind the Feebs thing either) and like Cecily but prefer Cecile personally.

clary · 20/08/2014 01:14

Here's what I think goes with Arthur Grin

Florence
Agnes
Mabel
Edith
Cecily
Elsie
Dorothy

You need a nice WW1 name (IMO) - think Mrs Miniver's houseparlourmaid.

thicketofstars · 20/08/2014 01:51

Having grown up with an Arthur for a parent, I feel very doubtful about the possibilities of finding a perfect matching name for your new baby when I never been visited with inspiration before. However, I do think you should steer away from Evie and Iris. They'll sound like a double act. In this genre, I love Linnet, Kate, Marianne, Isabelle, Loreli, Blythe and Lottie.#

birdofthenorth · 20/08/2014 12:01

Arthur and Iris is lovely. I also quite like Margot, very unusual.

SantasLittleMonkeyButler · 20/08/2014 12:08

I love Iris, also Ivy.

Edie, Romy & Phoebe are nice. Not many about but not unheard of.

Margot & Cecily are not to my taste, personally. Rather too pretentious sounding (especially Cecily).

DessieLou · 20/08/2014 12:50

Love Margot! That gets my vote, closely followed by Iris & Cecily.

Rox19 · 20/08/2014 13:41

Love cecily and Margot!
Fab list

Legionofboom · 20/08/2014 13:46

Margot - OK but Arthur and Margot is a lot of arrr sounds.
Phoebe - not keen, it's a bit wishy washy and feebs is awful
Edie - lovely
Romy - like (although I'm not 100% sure on how you would pronounce it)
Iris - like
Cecily -A bit pretentious

pommedeterre · 20/08/2014 13:57

I like Margot. The little one I know spells it Margaux which is quite cute.

I like Iris and Edie too.

TempsPerdu · 20/08/2014 14:35

Margot - very nice, but sounds a bit awkward with Arthur
Phoebe - pretty, but agree that Feebs is dreadful!

Edie - not a fan of all those ee sounds; better as a nn for Eden/Edith
Romy - not keen
Iris - nice - quite elegant sounding
Cecily - a bit wispy and wet imo. Prefer Celia or Cecilia.

Iris would probably be my pick of these. Think you've got the style right - broadly Edwardian/1920s.

Some more:

Nancy
Meredith
Hazel
Vivienne
Daphne
Evelyn
Pearl
Sylvia/Sylvie
Genevieve
Helena
Rosalind

Nora42 · 20/08/2014 16:03

I love Cecily! Iris is pretty too. Grin

Phoebe, i also immediately jump to Feebs.

Margot and Edie are nice bit not my first choice of your list.

Romy i'm afraid i can't get past the 80's film on that one!
