Artorius. Latin form of Arthur.

Is it one to put on my "frighten dp into agreeing to my more reasonable names" list?

I think its really cool! U should keep it as a definite possibility

Floop · 16/08/2014 22:15

I think it's way too much, and I usually love mad names.

MyPandaisasecretmonster · 16/08/2014 22:16

It's nice , I new an Arturo he used to go by 'Art' Smile

burgatroyd · 16/08/2014 22:22

Arturo...now I like that!

Passmethecrisps · 16/08/2014 22:24

I rather like it. He could be Art or Arty or Tory

CooCooCachoo · 16/08/2014 22:26

Love it, would have used it if I'd thought of/found it Envy

birdofthenorth · 16/08/2014 22:38

Arturo the Italian for Arthur is fab, we use it as a nickname for our Arthur. There are a lot of Arturo's restaurants in Italy, I think it's a good name for chefs!

DitzyDonkey · 16/08/2014 22:59

It's ever so slightly ponceorious Grin

AliciaBotty · 16/08/2014 23:31

Poncetastic. Do it!

Alisvolatpropiis · 16/08/2014 23:38

It does sound rather good with dp's surname Grin

I think it's great!

winkywinkola · 17/08/2014 07:21

I love a poncey name but Artorius just sounds too much.

florascotia · 17/08/2014 08:03

Some experts say that Artorius might be the Roman name from which Arthur developed. Others think that Arthur might be a Celtic name derived from 'artos' = bear. www.behindthename.com/name/arthur

I'm afraid that Artorius reminds me rather too much of 'sartorial'.

'Arturo', suggested above, would be good. Or what about 'Artur' (many languages) or even Gaelic 'Artair'??

concernedaboutheboy · 17/08/2014 13:39

If I came across an Artorius I woukd presume you were polish or perhaps from one of the Baltic states. Have heard much worse. If you love it, go for it.

ACM88 · 17/08/2014 21:59

Love it!!!

chiruri · 17/08/2014 22:01

I think I prefer Artur/Artor or Arturo. I'm really not a fan of names ending in 'ius'.

Minisoksmakehardwork · 18/08/2014 15:31

It's fab. Dh would love it! I've limited him to 'career' middle names though. So we have an Excalibur, Aloysius and (my choice) Temperance amongst our 4dc. Dd1 got of lightly!

Hassled · 18/08/2014 15:33

I once met a Saxon. Now that's a name to conjure with if you want poncetastic.

I do quite like Artorius, though. It trips off the tongue nicely.

mathanxiety · 18/08/2014 17:30

To me, Saxon is what white supremacists would call their pfb.
