Love it.

Sophronia · 05/08/2014 22:11

Don't like it.

Lunastarfish · 05/08/2014 22:38

3 people I was at school with have named their sons Dylan so it is a bit too common for my liking but it is a lovely name.

RemusLupinsBiggestGroupie · 05/08/2014 22:40

Like it. Like Dale even more though, and it has a similar feel but is less popular, if that bothers you.

ralinax294 · 05/08/2014 22:43

Love it :)

WallyBantersJunkBox · 05/08/2014 22:44

How would it be pronounced?

Rivercam · 05/08/2014 22:45

Love it. I think Catherine Zeta Jones named one of her sons Dylan and has made it popular.

Alisvolatpropiis · 06/08/2014 14:38

Very nice, very popular.

MrsMinton · 06/08/2014 14:43

Love it (I have a Dylan so am biased!)

squoosh · 06/08/2014 14:51

When I was 11 my best friend and I swore we'd each have a son called Dylan.

I still like it a lot despite its popularity.

BunnyLebowski · 06/08/2014 14:52

I love Dylan. Always have. It's such a lovely name.

It's definitely not popular where I am.

squoosh · 06/08/2014 14:52

Although I think Kerry Katona has recently called her daughter Dylan too. Really not so keen on it for a girl. Not so keen on the Katona konnection either.

Alisvolatpropiis · 06/08/2014 14:59

I did do an implied face palm when I read Katona had called her daughter that. It is such a boys name.

Saying that, Americans call their daughters Bryn which is even worse in my opinion!

meringue33 · 06/08/2014 19:27

Love it and considering it for (as yet hypothetical) DC2.

However all the adult Dylans I know are charming alcoholics, may be coincidence.

Also people mispronouncing it the English way would be annoying.

Notso · 06/08/2014 19:36

I like it pronounced properly.

BreeVDKamp · 06/08/2014 19:48

How is the proper way to say it? I am assuming I "mispronounce it the English way" Dill-un :)

BreeVDKamp · 06/08/2014 19:48

Btw I like it OP! :)

Gingerjv · 06/08/2014 20:01

I like this name a lot!

Alisvolatpropiis · 07/08/2014 01:01

The majority of Welsh people in the South say it the "wrong way".

The correct pronounciation is Dull-an.

Mr Thomas himself helped popularise the Dill-un pronunciation.

forago · 07/08/2014 01:05

love love love it (am biased)/- such a great name and despite the popularity surge mine is still the only one in his school (not in Wales :))

Pegglebot · 07/08/2014 11:21

It's a great name! None in either of the ds's classes, it's not that popular round here. Agree it's awful as a girls name, why would you when there are so many nice girls names?!

ButterflyOfFreedom · 07/08/2014 12:01

Really like it, it's on our shortlist! Smile

WallyBantersJunkBox · 07/08/2014 21:44

I'm from South West Wales and I've always pronounced it Dull-an as does everyone I know. And when we studied Literature everyone pronounced his name as Dull-an.

I don't think it was the South Welsh, more the US influence in his life.

Mylittlepotofjoy · 07/08/2014 22:05

Fantastic name one my sil is keen on . Iloveit :)
