Jemima is stunning. Thea just blends in with Leah, Mia etc.

OryxCrake · 29/07/2014 13:16

I love the name Jemima. I also would pronounce Mimi as Meemee...

But actually I'd use the nickname Jem.

EstellaSpitsEmOut · 29/07/2014 13:19

I love Thea! Sounds like a Greek Goddess.

Jemima sounds like a busy-body character in a novel.

Alita7 · 29/07/2014 13:34

Jemima :)

Bowlersarm · 29/07/2014 13:35

Jemima

Stars66 · 29/07/2014 13:46

Thea.
Although people might ask if it's short for Anthea...Shock

hlc123 · 29/07/2014 14:01

Thea is a beautiful name, not keen at all on jemima

Sophronia · 29/07/2014 14:13

Jemima. I don't like the 'th' sound in Thea.

Montsti · 29/07/2014 14:18

Jemima nn.Mimi although I prefer Mima.

I have an irrational dislike of the names Thea and Theo. Remind me of a stuffy librarian or a boring history or scripture class.

Montsti · 29/07/2014 14:19

I would also get really irritated with people pronouncing it Fea...

ThatBloodyWoman · 29/07/2014 14:21

Jemima, but with Mimi used all the time.

swizzlesticks · 29/07/2014 15:25

Sorry - Mimi would be pronounced 'Meemee'.

Ooh - looks like the tide is turning on Thea...!

I love them both - I'd personally use Thea, but Jemima is fab and probably won't date the way I suspect Thea might. I know mainly 25 yo Jemimas who are all very cool so that might be affecting my lack of old lady association!

I'd use Mima as a nn - Myymah not MeeMee - although knowing me she'd wind up going to school thinking her name was Buttons or some such!

Both are gorgeous though.

Viviennemary · 29/07/2014 16:30

I prefer Thea. Don't like Mimi at all. And I'd pronounce it Meemee or Meemy

bouncingbelle · 29/07/2014 17:01

Thea.

Just spent the weekend with a child called Mimi and actually found it quite twee to say. I like Jemima tho.

mummy1973 · 29/07/2014 17:08

Jemima. Because I don't let like the name Thea (sorry).

DramaAlpaca · 29/07/2014 17:10

I prefer Jemima by a long way, and I like Mima better than Mimi.

I really don't like the name Thea. It's a name that comes up on MN all the time and lots of people seem to love it, but I've never actually met one. To me it sounds a bit wet and lispy, and is highly likely to be mispronounced as Fear.

DorothyBastard · 29/07/2014 17:20

I was nearly called Jemima but my dad vetoed it with the case that "it rhymes with vagina" Hmm

Superrhan · 29/07/2014 17:33

Thea. It's my favourite at the min.

CPtart · 29/07/2014 18:00

Thea, a lovely, classy timeless name to grow old with.
Jemma is fussy and cutesy and reminds me of the doll in "playschool" ( for those old enough to remember!)

PancakesAndMapleSyrup · 29/07/2014 18:02

Thea, dd's nn is Mimi. So love that but not Jemima!

Pooka · 29/07/2014 18:04

Thea.

Jemima is just a bit too frou-frou and cute-sy for my tastes. Mimi is better I suppose.

But Thea gets my vote.

ButterflyOfFreedom · 29/07/2014 18:11

I like both but the first thing that springs to mind with Jemima is Puddleduck so I'll vote Thea! Smile

zeddybrek · 29/07/2014 18:12

Jemima, a really pretty name.
