Elvie?

Opinions on this name please. I have had a hard time trying to get my husband to think of names. But last night he told me he loved this name. I am a little surprised! I really like it but wonder if it sounds like it is short for something else? I had a look at what it could be short for and I dislike all the names. Can Elvie be a name in it's own right like Evie or Edie? (I love Edie)

I know a little Elfie but I always thinks it sounds like Alfie being said in an Australian accent. Elvie is nicer.

I like it, it definitely beats Evie, which is pretty common now. It's very pretty :)

I love it, I have a little boy called Elvin and there were some "I just couldn't" "why would you give your child a name which is connected to elves" type comments but I love the name and he really suits the name and that is all that matters.

Love it! But I have an Älfi (pr Elfi) or Aelfi depending which government you are talking to.

I know a few Elvie's and they are all just Elvie, not short for anything. I think it is fine as a standalone, there are plenty of Evie's who are not Evelyn, short forms as standalone names are becoming more common.

One of my best friends is Elva. She is quite an old lady now but I love the name.

I like Elva or Alva and Elvie is adorable as a nickname. But it feels a bit cute for plenty of grown women, and also a bit close to Elvis...

Just makes me think of plus size clothes too.
