Hi all,

This is my first foray into MN posting (after much reading!). We're 1.5 weeks from due date and still undecided on names if our little one is a girl. So I'd really welcome your views about the two we have narrowed it down to - Clara Matilda or Florence Ramona? Our surname goes with either, we're looking for something not too popular, classic with some history to it but with a bit of 'edge' too. Honest reactions please, this is our only way of testing it out in the real world! Thanks in advance!

I also like Florence matilda

Florence and Matilda (and Tilly) are very popular here. Clara sounds lovely and fresh sounding. Clara Florence particularly nice.

I would have gone for Ramona like a shot...it's such a cool name & I still love it, DH vetoed it though. Love all the other names, the only one that would suit our surname is Clara & not sure I like it enough to use it...

Ramona as a first name. :)

Love Clara, but wouldn't pair it with Matilda because they both end with the 'a'.

I like Romona best, Clara second. Matilda has good history, but Tilly was very popular for a few years when my two were small and I like that much less.

With the Dr Who Clara connection you could always take it one step further and go for Romana. I think my dh sometimes has a few Sarah Jane regrets Grin

Florence and Matilda are both lovely and for most of yor criteria but they are both very popular here (North West). I actually much prefer Clara and Ramona to both of them though!

PS prefer the Romona spelling I Romona, and Romy is a cute diminutive
