Names to go with Smith

Hello! Anyone got any thoughts on these names? I'm after something a bit different to go with our rather common surname! Has to be something easy to spell though, any other suggestions welcome, thanks :)

I can't actually see my shortlist on here so here you go!
Aaron Abigail
Frederick Beatrice
Isaac Elise
Kristian Esther
Noah Pollyanna

Everything goes with Smith.

Long names. short names. Eg, Joe Smith or Penelope Smith.

Why does it have to be easy to spell? You planning on having a dyslexic baby?

Nuttynortherner · 15/07/2014 20:24

Haha, no but hubby is! :)

Isn't Noah a boy's name?

Nuttynortherner · 15/07/2014 20:27

Yes, boys names on the left, girls on the right (grr, technology!)

Whoops. It's me being thick - sorry.

I think any name goes with Smith. For preference I would go with something more glamorous because names like Bob and Joe are nice, but are very boring teamed up with Smith.

Bowlersarm · 15/07/2014 20:31

It would be lovely to have a distinctive first name if your surname is Smith.

Pollyanna unusual. And Elise. Nothing else though.

Any other unusual names you like OP?

BikeRunSki · 15/07/2014 20:31

Montgomery

Lorelei

Pangaea · 15/07/2014 20:31

Don't use Will! Will Smith does not work! I still think he's famous enough for it to be a problem.

Do you like Polly without the Anna? Not a fan of the longer version.

Maybe Francesca?

Nuttynortherner · 15/07/2014 20:33

Yeah, that's what I'm thinking too

Pangaea, thanks! I was wondering about the Will Smith issue (it's a family name but think it'll have to be a middle name)

I agree with going with something unusual. There were two Paul Smiths in my year at college for example (out of about 80 people).

There are two Noahs out of about 30 children at my son's nursery so it is not that unusual I would say. I also know Abigails, an Isaac, an Esther and a Frederick all under six and a 10 year old Elise so I think Pollyanna the best bet!

Nuttynortherner · 15/07/2014 20:37

Bowlersarm: Anais? Or is that a bit obscure? I'm finding unusual girls names much easier than boys!

OP posts:
Nuttynortherner · 15/07/2014 20:38

Thanks Laura, I thought Noah was becoming popular so I think it's out

BikeRunSki · 15/07/2014 20:43

Noah is deffo not an unusual name anymore. Although I only know 1 person whose surname is Smith!

Bowlersarm · 15/07/2014 20:49

Anais perfect OP.

But at the risk of sounding like a dinosaur, a girl can change her surname when she marries. A boy less so.

A boys first name with Smith is more prevalent, IMO. Cmcentrate on unusual - or lesser known - boys names.

Saul?

Silas?

Nuttynortherner · 15/07/2014 20:54

Silas makes me think of TV baddies (Hollyoaks and Sylar off Heroes) :)
Good point about the getting married bit, I went from common first name with unusual surname to common first and surname!

Definitely choose a distinctive first name with a common name as Smith as there will be thousands of John Smiths or Ben Smiths!

How about
Dominic Smith
Quentin Smith

Celeste Smith
Antonia Smith

Nuttynortherner · 17/07/2014 08:44

Thanks Rachel, one of those is my hubby's ex so that's definitely out! But I like Dominic, one for the shortlist I think :)
