It's ok but I prefer Nora.

hollyisalovelyname · 12/07/2014 20:26

No.
I knew a Cora years ago.
No!

Whatisaweekend · 12/07/2014 20:33

I think it's lovely! There was a Cora in a PG Wodehouse novel and her nickname was Corky which is super cute!

PourquoiTuGachesTaVie · 16/07/2014 08:00

This was my top girls name for years, ds would have been Cora had he been a girl but it's become so popular recently I'm having a rethink. I worked in a residential home as a teenager and the oldest resident there (age 105!) was Cora. It's a lovely name.

birdofthenorth · 16/07/2014 13:05

Cora is great. But then I also like Dora and Nora, which might not please everyone!

Vintagejazz · 16/07/2014 14:18

I don't like it, but am Irish like Squoosh and it has mumsy/aunty connotations for me. A bit like Joyce or Barbara would probably sound to an English person's ears.

ashesandfire · 16/07/2014 19:15

Massive yay, love it. Reminds me of Last of the Mohicans too

weatherall · 16/07/2014 19:18

It's nice enough.

Better than most other old lady names.

RainbowB7 · 17/07/2014 23:06

Lovely

MummyBeerest · 17/07/2014 23:09

Yay!

thisvelvetglove · 18/07/2014 21:13

Yay

thisvelvetglove · 18/07/2014 21:14

Yay

ralinax294 · 26/07/2014 19:59

I absolutely love Cora!

Lewismummy2202 · 26/07/2014 20:38

I am also expecting and this is the only name my husband and I both like for a girl, but a relative put me off by saying it rhymes too readily with pakora! Now that I have read other comments I see that there is nothing to be put off about as lots of positive comments!

bethellex · 26/07/2014 20:46

Love it! Also.. I know a girl named Coral which I love too.. only ever heard of one Coral!

ShovettyMcShovetty · 28/07/2014 09:46

Yay!

Montsti · 29/07/2014 18:56

I don't like it. It seems to be a very popular name on mumsnet and rarely gets negative responses. Not sure how popular it actually is in RL though.

TalcumPowder · 31/07/2014 16:09

I considered it for the baby that turned out to be my son, but what sounds like increasing popularity would probably make me reconsider now. As would that dead-eyed gurning countess in Downton Abbey.

But objectively, it us a lovely name. Am Irish too, and it doesn't gave any mumsy connotations for me. The only Irish Cora I have known is a ravishing arts student from my own student days.

DramaAlpaca · 31/07/2014 16:52

Nay from me, sorry.

I think it's the sound that is not to my taste - I don't like Dora, Nora or Thora either. But then I don't like old lady names in general.

Corinne is nice, though.
