We are expecting ds2 and I am feeling a little bit lost when thinking about names.

Ds1 is called Elvin which we love, we live in Sweden but I am British. Elvin was a perfect name as it is pronounced fairly similarly in English and Swedish.

The names we have been thinking about áre

Frej norse god of fertility, prosperity and fine weather (pronounced in the same was Freja would be prounounced in Swedish with a strong rolled r and quit soft ej (ey) sound but without the "a" at the end) my family would say "frey" I love the idea of this name but it just isn't feeling like 100% the right name and we need a few other options.

Tor norse god of thunder. I love the idea of this name but it is hard for me to prounounce, I can pronounce it correctly (tow-rrrr) in Swedish but it doesn't come easily to me, I'm reluctant to choose a swedish name and just say tor or thaw.

The ENlgish names I like are

Quin
Quentin
Rowan (this will be the baby's middle name as it is a family member's name.

Any ideas? It doesn't matter if it is a very English name, people often give their dc English names in Sweden but they tend to choose names like Kevin, collin, gavin and Derrick Hmm

Any inspiration or suggestions are very appreciated!

Apollo?

I met a little boy aged 11 called Fox yesterday, which I thought was lovely, as was he. I believe that the word Fox has Norse origin too. Congratulations on your upcoming event!

Robin?

ikeaismylocal · 05/07/2014 12:28

Fox is pretty cool, especially if he has red hair which is a stog possibility!

Apollo is also a great name, but I think we are drawn to norse gods because of living in the north rather than because we want to name the baby after a god.

Dp wasnt to call the baby Viking which is an actual name in Sweden. I have said no.

Quentin is lovely (biased as we have one Smile).

Or how about Rowan ?

NigellasDealer · 05/07/2014 12:37

when I saw your thread title I thought Rowan immediately

rachel234 · 05/07/2014 12:37

Oh, sorry forgot that you'd already chosen Rowan as middle name.
