Henry - too common?

My DH and I are thinking about Henry for our son due in Sept. My issues with this name are:

  1. Is it really popular at the moment?
  2. What would his friends nickname him? Hen/hank!?! Nooo!

V popular. I think it's going the way of Jack/Harry/Oliver round here.

Its very popular here too - along with Harry, Oliver, Samuel, Thomas, Oscar, George and William.

Kerryp · 30/06/2014 18:31

It's lovely Smile

It's popular, but not as popular as George, Dylan and Freddie who seem to be everywhere where I live.

It's a lovely name - classic and timeless. I like it a lot.

I have a DS called Henry. There are a few about (north London) but not as many as Harry.

My SIL calls him Henners. My nanny calls him Hens. My brother calls him Hamburger.

It's a lovely, classic name.

Lovely name, was tempted for our DS but chose something else instead. It's not common at all where I am. Such a lovely name...go for it!

scarlettsmummy2 · 30/06/2014 20:02

I really like it but know of two born in the last year!

I live in saaarf laaaaandan, and they're everywhere.

picnicbasketcase · 05/07/2014 14:06

It's a lovely name and I don't know anyone called it.

BlueStarsAtNight · 05/07/2014 15:27

I've always loved it- almost chose it for DS but decided not to as I was worried it was too popular, but I do sometimes wish I'd gone with it. I know a lot of babies now but don't know any Henry's now! I'm in south east.

rachel234 · 05/07/2014 15:27

Yes, becoming quite trendy, along with Jack, Alfie, Oscar, Harry. Isn't Harry the nickname for Henry? That's got to be better than Hen or Hank!

upyourninja · 05/07/2014 15:34

I love it and it's top of my list. I like it much much more than Harry, of which there are many here in the Cotswolds.

However, I think it's becoming more popular, and I know two toddlers called Henry near me. I think I might use it anyway Smile
