Hi guys what do you think of the name Isabella-Moonflower?

Um, well the cycles of the moon play a part in menstruation and "flower" has been known to be used by little girls to refer to their bits.

Periods were the first thing I thought of when seeing moonflower. Blush

Muskey · 30/06/2014 21:37

Moonflower sounds a bit dippy hippy name sorry but I love isabella

Primadonnagirl · 30/06/2014 21:38

Isabella Rockerfella has as nice ring to it

LovelyMarchHare · 30/06/2014 21:40

I think you grow moon flowers in a moshi monster garden.

BackforGood · 30/06/2014 21:41

Isabella has been really common around here in last 3 or 4 or 5 years - there's thousands of them.

Moonflower Hmm - really? Don't.

SirChenjin · 30/06/2014 22:02

Ah - I get the link now Alis Grin

BomberManIsAGirl · 30/06/2014 22:09

There is a Moonflower in the Warrier Cats books too.

mrsbrownsgirls · 01/07/2014 04:23

beyond dreadful

CheerfulYank · 01/07/2014 04:29

Ali I thought of it right away too! It sounds like a hippie tampon company OR what a super crunchy mom might say when her daughter starts her period. "Cedar has begun receiving the gift of the moonflower..."

I like different middle names myself, but...maybe not quite this one.

hoboken · 01/07/2014 05:14

Google Moonflower and you will find Chinese restaurants so-named in Dover and a number of other places...

fourforksache · 01/07/2014 07:14

I thought this was a joke thread Shock

NinjaLeprechaun · 01/07/2014 08:12

It sounds like somebody I might have gone to school with because I was raised by a pack of hippies.
I had friends with middle names like Moon, Snow, Dawn-Star, Rain, Trees and Zeus. (Those are all real examples, btw, first 3 girls and last 3 boys.) Unusual first names are questionable, but some people can pull them off - I had a friend named Lichen, and she wore it well.

Personally, I like them, but that's because I grew up thinking they were quasi-normal - and much more interesting than my very pedestrian-and-sensible names.

BeckaH123 · 01/07/2014 11:46

Isabella has been ruined for me by Twilight. Moonflower as a middle name is at least unusual, but I wouldn't have it as part of the first name as I can just imagine it making DD's life difficult. At least it's unique though and not boring.

Gileswithachainsaw · 01/07/2014 11:51

Arf @ menstrual

Exactly The word for it!!!

Either that it someone's been reading the b&q paint chart.

Isabella? Lovely but very popular.

Notso · 01/07/2014 12:22

It sounds a bit like a question.

Cedar has begun receiving the gift of the moonflower
I actually actually in real life snorted at that when I was eating a spoonful of drinking chocolate powder (don't judge) and now have brown snot on my chin.

Azquilith · 01/07/2014 12:26

Great for a unicorn

TheTravellingLemon · 01/07/2014 15:35

Cedar has begun receiving the gift of the moonflower

This is exactly it, and also the best sentence I have read. Ever.

fourforksache · 01/07/2014 17:04

we have 2 isabellas in just our street, it's everywhere at the mo.

Umbrellasandladders · 01/07/2014 19:29

Goodness awful

fourforksache · 01/07/2014 20:06

Goodness awful

That's not a bad name, Umbrellas, got a Victorian vibe to it Grin

inchanpre · 01/07/2014 20:22

snigger at Moonflower.

Good one, OP!

andmyunpopularopionis · 01/07/2014 20:30

Half the girls in ds's class are essentially Issy (isobel/isabella)...lol

Moonflower...cute fore a child's cartoon character but if you are going to give your child the most common (as in used a lot!) name I think their second name should be usable.
