Hi all :) 3 weeks to go and need honest opinions please! Lottie is my number 1 choice, Norah and Olivia were also in there but unfortunately 2 people i know have used these recently! Any other suggestions on middle names for Lottie? Can't use Mae / May or Rae.

Suggestions on names like Lottie are more than welcome :) Monét was on the shortlist for a while?

I love love love Lottie, such a pretty name
I wanted it on our short list by DP said no Hmm (we're having a boy so irrelevant now anyway!)

0hana · 23/06/2014 13:26

Me too, it's not too common
either, my only thing is that it's such a cute name will it age well?

I like Lottie. But if it were me, I'd name her Charlotte and use Lottie as her given name. It gives her a more grown up option if she wants it later on. I really really do not like Monet. Being as it is, a byword (for me at least), for something which is pretty from a distance, and ugly close up. No no no.

SantasLittleMonkeyButler · 23/06/2014 13:33

A good friend of mine has a Lottie Rose - well it's Charlotte on her birth certificate, but I have never heard her being called anything other than Lottie Smile.

Monet - rather too close to Money and/or Moany for me to use it.

I don't like Olivia, although it's hugely popular at the moment, it just sounds harsh to me.

Nora(h) is pretty - but I may be biased as it was my grandma's name Smile.

SantasLittleMonkeyButler · 23/06/2014 13:35

Yes, commenting just on your second post, you can make Lottie age better by using Charlotte as the full name. That would give her more options if she should grow out of Lottie.

DitzyDonkey · 23/06/2014 13:37

I think Lottie is beautiful (I would just have Lottie on the BC)

Lucked · 23/06/2014 13:42

I think cute for a little girl and she may be able to pull Lottie off as a professional adult but I would give her the option of Charlotte.

Anne would work as a middle name or use one of the names you like which others have used, it's a middle name so it doesn't matter.

BeckaH123 · 23/06/2014 13:58

Oh sorry I don't like Lottie very much... I think that is simply because Lottie has become v popular where I live and it doesn't sound very nice in the accents round here. If you live somewhere that isn't a problem then that will probably not bother you so much! Smile

I like Charlotte though and your DD could always shorten it to Lottie among friends and family if she wants to.

LittleMissDisorganized · 23/06/2014 14:04

I too would use Charlotte and just call her Lottie - in 15 years time she may be glad of it.

Charlotte Grace
Charlotte Jean

HermioneWeasley · 23/06/2014 14:06

Another vote for Charlotte. Lottie is cute, but not appropriate for CEO of Unilever.

0hana · 23/06/2014 16:36

Thanks everyone, it's good to get honest opinions rather than everyone just agreeing with you!

I think Charlotte Marie sounds really good.

Mont is not good - is the accent deliberate (honest question)?

Nereida · 23/06/2014 17:37

Not Charlotte Anne - sounds too much like 'charlatan'!

CashmereMouse · 23/06/2014 17:46

I agree, go for Charlotte as full name and nn as Lottie, best of both worlds then as gives her the option of a more formal/grown up name when she's older. My best friend is Lottie (Charlotte on BC ), it's a lovely name!

PilauMice · 23/06/2014 18:00

Charlotte Marie is lovely and I like Lottie but it's defo a childish name.
Charlotte Mary? Bit more traditional but lovely.

EhricLovesTheBhrothers · 23/06/2014 18:36

Charlotte Marie is nice. Lottie is a nn for a little girl IMO.

roadtripper · 23/06/2014 18:45

I like Lottie but am also into go giving her options. Charlotte is nice or Carlotta, or my favourite is Lotta. I knew a beautiful Lotta once.

florascotia · 23/06/2014 19:17

As previous poster has said - why the accent on Monet? In French, where the name comes from, it's not necessary. In French the ending et = ay or eh. The letter e with an acute accent also equals ay or eh. The famous painter's name was said: 'Mohn -ay'.

supadupapupascupa · 23/06/2014 19:25

I have a Charlotte May. We call her Lottie. It is a lovely name..but i do find it a bit pretentious because where I come from it was considered to be a 'posh' name.... I also love Charlie. That helps. Just in case.

supadupapupascupa · 23/06/2014 19:26

Charlotte Louise is nice. nn Lottie Loulou

I have a Charlotte, which we shorten to Lottie. I think I'd go with an equally traditional middle name though. Not so keen on Marie though :)

CharlesRyder · 23/06/2014 20:31

Second vote for Carlotta. Less common than Charlotte and goes better with Marie.

Carlotta Marie sounds like a beautiful Spanish flamenco dancer!

Bertiebutterfly · 23/06/2014 21:33

I've got a Charlotte nn Lottie, beautiful name Smile

She was going to be Charlotte Rose but DH finally relented so she's Charlotte Alice

peppinagiro · 25/06/2014 09:37

DD was almost Charlotte NN Lottie. I love it, but we decided just before she was born it didn't suit her. It doesn't. So she has a different name :) a friend had a baby a couple of weeks before me and her DD is Charlotte NN Lottie, and it's lovely and really fits her.
