What do you think about this name for our baby boy? He would be Timothy on his birth certificate, but called Tim/Timmy. I like it because I'm a teacher and have never taught a Timmy, but not entirely sure...

All I can hear is the theme tune to timmy time, but that's not necessarily a bad thing....

Cardinal · 22/06/2014 22:23

I think it's really nice. Tim ages so well on a child then an adult. It's an underused gem.

yummymumtobe · 22/06/2014 22:24

Cute! Agree it's not overly used and makes a nice change. Suits all ages.

Nereida · 22/06/2014 22:25

I'd like to see it used more often, I agree it's underused.

gymboywalton · 22/06/2014 22:26

famous five dog

Canidae · 22/06/2014 22:26

I like it. It's a name that everyone knows but it isn't common.

strawberryjam · 22/06/2014 22:28

I like it, underused in my opinion

mithuseretrod · 22/06/2014 22:30

I like it. Not Timmy, but Tim and Timothy.

LostTeacher · 22/06/2014 22:33

Love it!

If I were to have another DS I would use it.

moolive · 22/06/2014 22:35

Sorry, I think it's an awful, wet name. Tim at best is non-descript, Timmy and Timothy are really bad. Yes to unusual though - I haven't heard of anyone under 40 with this name for years. Sorry!

TheWomanTheyCallJayne · 22/06/2014 22:46

My brother (under 40) is a timothy/ Tim
And he's in no way wet so it doesn't seem wet to me.

Marcipex · 22/06/2014 22:50

Tim, Tim, nice-but-dim is all I think of.

CheckpointCharlie · 22/06/2014 22:52

Love it. Have taught a Timmy and know an adult Tim.

Great choice, like poster above said, an unused gem!

BrunoBrookesDinedAlone · 22/06/2014 22:52

I really like it. All the Tims I've known have been quite cool.

Classic, underused, can't be misspelled, good short form.

Locketjuice · 22/06/2014 23:08

I can picture a really nerdy teenager playing a saxophone.. Sorry! I think there was a boy at my secondary school called Timothy though that looked like that so probably why I make that connection..

fattycow · 22/06/2014 23:23

Tim is really common over here and for that reason I would never pick it, but the name itself is perfectly fine. It also works well with most surnames.

sonlypuppyfat · 22/06/2014 23:25

I know a baby Tim it's nice enough.

GoblinMarket · 22/06/2014 23:35

love it

drudgetrudy · 23/06/2014 00:04

Not keen. Tim makes me think "Timid" and then "mothy" just my opinion though!

Elsiequadrille · 23/06/2014 00:49

I do like it, and the short forms you plan to use. I'm sure I've heard of Timmy Time but never seen it. I'm more likely to think of the Famous Five Dog, Timmy.

I know plenty my age, but very few, actually only one, and not recent, baby Tims.

BanjoKazooie · 23/06/2014 00:59

I really like Tim and Timothy but find Timmy a bit babyish and cutesy.

I know two Tims who are about twenty.

RoseberryTopping · 23/06/2014 07:23

I don't like it, sorry but I agree it makes me think of a weedy boy. Also I don't know if it's just me but it reminds me of South Park.

WhereHas1999DissappearedToo · 23/06/2014 07:54

I'm not keen on it, seems a bit dated to and wet.

DameDiazepamTheDramaQueen · 23/06/2014 08:22

I like Tim but not Timothy or Timothy.

speak2me · 23/06/2014 08:32

Love it, I am biased though! DS (nearly 2) is Timothy, we have never shortened it though.
