Moses, Daniel or Zachary

What do you think of these names for DC2?

DS already has an Old Testament name starting with a D, would this be a problem with Daniel?

Also two of the syllable sounds in Zachary are also in our surname so that might make it sound odd.

Is Moses too weird?

Any ideas will be helpful. DH and I are at an impasse over two other names so we are trying to compromise somewhere!

Something like Zachary Hacker wouldn't be great IMO.
I like Daniel.

Not Moses.

Love Daniel and Zachary.

Zachary Daniel works well. SmileSmileSmile

I really like Moses, but it does seem to be a marmite name.

Daniel's a lovely name, it's hard to tell if it would be a problem with your DS name without knowing what it is.

Have you and DH thought about

Benjamin
Solomon
Reuben
Elias/Elijah
Tobias/Toby
Isaiah
Levi

November, DH and I have thought about but rejected all those names! We are super fussy.

My DS's name starts with a D. I just wondered if it would be weird to both be called Master D. Surname?

What do people dislike about Moses. Does he invoke this?

Moses, Daniel or Zachary

But thanks for the ideas. I'm so worried this child will be nameless!

Our cat is called Moses - and it suits him brilliantly!

Yes it could get confusing with post as they get older. Other than that I think it would be ok.

I would go for Moses, Zachary is very very popular around here.

Bowlersarm · 22/06/2014 19:35

Daniel.

The post thing is only an issue whilst they live at home. The name lasts a lifetime.

Poussay · 22/06/2014 19:41

My favourite is Daniel, then Moses, then Zachary. I know a Moses and it is unusual but doesn't seem weird on him so I think its fine to use.

I like Biblical names but Moses is too 'out there' for me.

I like Zachary
Daniel
Joshua
Benjamin etc

But

Moses
Noah
Abraham
Isaac
Zerubbabel Grin

Are too much for me.

ButterflyOfFreedom · 22/06/2014 19:56

My favourite is Zachary closely followed by Daniel though the reasons you give for possibly not using them would probably put me off (I don't like alliteration or rhyming names etc.).

Don't like Moses but not sure why?! Maybe just because it's a lot less common and a little 'out there'.

What about:
Benedict
Bram (Abraham)
Saul
Jacob
Malachi
Joseph
Abel
Josiah
Simeon
Matthew
Jonah

Daniel is very popular in London. I looked up the 2012 statstics and they put it at number 2 regionally.

We need names that are also in the Qur'an but we want the anglicised version. I love Samuel but DH won't have it. DH wants Jacob but I HATE the nn Jake and I would seethe everytime one of his friends called him it.

I called my son Zachary and still love it. It's quite a versatile name, most people call him Zac, I call him Zacky and if he wants to sound a bit more formal when he's older he has the option of Zachary.
I also really like Abe, that would have been on the list if DC 2 hadn't been a girl.

Steelojames · 23/06/2014 22:41

I love Moses!!!!! Maybe will use if have more children one day. Go for it!!
Was on my list but opted for Zachariah instead.
Call my DS zach or zacky too, and sometimes even Zachary!
