What do you think of the name Faye? Is it a winner or a loser? It seems to be one of those names which is always around, never in the top 20 but never desperately out of fashion either.

Very nice, proper name and not too common.

PetaPipa · 10/06/2014 12:45

I like it. But probably not if you have a one syllable surname. It's pretty and not too popular.

Montsti · 10/06/2014 12:49

I know a 1 year old, Faye. Personally I'm not keen...I find it very 80's but it does sound pretty. Maybe just have bad associations.

CPtart · 10/06/2014 12:52

Much nicer as a middle name IMO

squoosh · 10/06/2014 14:03

It's a bit 80's and a bit wishy washy.

Optimist1 · 10/06/2014 14:05

A lovely name, but I prefer it without the "e".

looki · 10/06/2014 16:28

I like it a lot. It's simple, timeless, classless and very pretty. It's my favourite F girl's name.

EyelinerQueen · 10/06/2014 16:29

Agree with squoosh as always.

It's very dated and a bit of a non-event of a name.

bassingtonffrench · 10/06/2014 16:33

love it would have it without the 'e' though

Nereida · 10/06/2014 18:00

I'm not keen, I agree with what others have said about it being a bit dated.

maggiethemagpie · 10/06/2014 18:27

For some reason I really like it with the e but not without - suprising seeing as pronounced the same but in my head it somehow seems different without the e!

It's my sister's name, we have a one-syllable surname, but totally different sound, so does work ok. Although I tend to think of it as being fairly uncommon, she had another one in her tutor group at secondary school.

pilates · 10/06/2014 18:40

Not keen, agree with others, dated.

fingersonbuzzers · 10/06/2014 18:49

I prefer Freya.

fingersonbuzzers · 10/06/2014 18:50

I do know a very lovely adult Fay (without the e) who is elegant and very nice and I think of it as a very graceful name - I don't know if that's because it reminds me of her. It is a pretty sound.

brandyandsummergloves · 10/06/2014 18:52

It's my dds middle name. She's 22 though, so I'm not sure it's entirely up-to-the-minute. I like it though, obviously.

Timeandtune · 10/06/2014 18:53

I like it. Don't think of it as being dated at all.

gertiegusset · 10/06/2014 18:54

Love it.

OhMyActualDays · 10/06/2014 18:56

I know someone who is Fay short for Frances. I like both!

Wishfulmakeupping · 10/06/2014 19:02

So weird squoosh I was able to write exactly that!

TickleMePurple · 10/06/2014 19:05

I love it. I know one 2 year old and two 30 year olds with the name. Best with a long/mid length surname.

Marnierose · 10/06/2014 19:12

It's on my short list. I think of it as a very 20s name. It's more unusual (not common) but nice normal if that makes sense. I love the meaning too

maggiethemagpie · 11/06/2014 18:55

Marnie - as in people in their 20s now have this name? or 1920s?
