I know a Mariam who's name isn't confused with Miriam, perhaps it depends where in the country you are. I really like Hania, I think it's a beautiful name and I've never met one.

I know a hania she's polish, I think its a lovely name and unusual but easy to pronounce.

Alisvolatpropiis · 06/06/2014 12:44

Hania.

I don't like Mariam and Sara (Sar-uh) and Sarah are just too common.

I knew a Hania at school.

mancomm1 · 06/06/2014 22:35

Mariam - 15
Hania - 6
Sara - 4

From my rough statistics of your kind responses of first pref so far

I was surprised Mariam was that popular which I guess / hope wd make it easier for us

Love Hania and Mariam.

I find Sara a bit dull and boring.

Congratulations on your little girl Thanks

I like Hania best, then Sara, then Mariam.

Alisvolatpropiis · 08/06/2014 00:29

Hania is much for unusual but not totally different or likely to be mistaken for a different, but similar sounding name.

Sara is Welsh to me (I am Welsh) and prn Sah-ruh. But lots of English people pronounce it Sarah.

Mariam - I've met one initially I did think it was Miriam. Only very initial but still.

BrunoBrookesDinedAlone · 08/06/2014 23:13

I'm going to go against the grain and say Sara - lovely, elegant, won't get misspelled, known but not overly popular at the moment.

Both of the others are fine, but seem so much more ploddy and lumpen.

Hulafox · 08/06/2014 23:49

Mariam is my favourite. Although I prefer the similar sounding names Marianne and Marion

Only1scoop · 08/06/2014 23:52

I like Sara out of the 3

Hania is a town in Crete

And Mariam for some reasons reminds me of Mammaries Blush
