Where did you find it? Did you invent it?

To me it sounds rather harsh and yes, made up. Celia is similar but sounds nicer to me.

I would pronounce it your way - Car-lia.

Love it.

SomeSunnySunday · 29/05/2014 11:42

How about Thalia instead?

HomeIsWhereTheHeartIs · 29/05/2014 11:43

I like it. I would pronounce it Cal(as is Callum)-ea.

MaudantWit · 29/05/2014 12:18

I'm happy to be in a minority here.

Stokey · 29/05/2014 12:36

I'd pronounce it Carl-ia but have never heard and wonder what it's origins are? Possibly depends where in the country you're from. I'm a southerner so use a long 'a', whereas a northerner may say Caal-ia

How do you feel about Calista, Clarissa or Clara?

UnrelatedToElephants · 29/05/2014 12:47

Calla (the lily) is lovely. Callia looks like an error to me.

Guin1 · 29/05/2014 13:01

It sounds quite hard if you pronounce it with a short 'a' sound, like Callum. Better if pronounced Cah-lia. Although, same as Maudant, I prefer Celia. But I'm an old fogey too ;)

burgatroyd · 29/05/2014 16:01

Calista sounds to be a bit like blister but Clarissa and Clara are lovely
