Hi
I'm due in nine weeks now and still struggling for a name.
has to be Arabic.
top of my list is annisa ( pronounced aneesa)
opinions please
others i like are
Maliha
Zaina
layla- although quite common

Anousha is Arabic name. Another thread made me think of it

I like Annisa.
Layla is very common ( as in frequent) around here.
Don't like Maysun, would assume it was a boy " Mason" and the spelling is ugly.

I know a girl called Annisa and it's a nice name but she always gets called an-is-a (with short sounding i) which really annoys her!

I like Sarina best from your list

I'm not keen in Annisa. I think some arabic girls names can be a bit wishy washy sounding (Aliya, Amaya types). I prefer stronger sounds, my favourite name for my imaginary daughter who will probably never exist is Zina, or possibly Zayna. I like Zina best, meaning beautiful.

I don't like Annisa because it makes me think Anise the spice (I don't like it very much).

Zaina & Maliha both sound very pretty to me (said almost any plausible way).

Quite like annisa & sarina.

Prefer maysam or maysoon to maysun

Of the Arab women I know, there's an Amal, an Alaa, Nojoud, Hala, Manal, Najwa, Bayan, Eman and Yasameen.

I really love Nojoud - it's very elegant. But my personal favourite Arab female name is Reem. I know it has an English meaning all its own post-Joey Essex but it's such a great name. And the Reem I know very much suits her name - she's fantastic.

ive been looking at Imani, and for some reason liked Nora for quite a while but don't think i could do that to a child!!!

Annisa in Arabic means good friend/companion & I think that's a good name to give a child. Try the naming approach from another angle by looking at the meaning as you might find that will help you make your decision a lot more quickly.

I love Nora too - and there are a couple about so I don't think it's a bad thing to do to a child?

We went with n a d i a. She was nearly Nora - we had it down to those 2 and decided on the day.

Annisa is still on the list for my fantasy third DD.

I think I want annisa just got to convince the husband now, although i do really like Nora, maybe middle name xxx

Yasmin is nice. I really like Maysoon (this spelling in the UK). Or how about Zineb/ Zaineb? I am personally less keen on Faiza.

I work in a Muslim school and my favourite girls name I've heard is Yamina. I would use it myself if it wasn't so culturally specific (and as a ginger half Irish, half Jewish woman with a similarly ginger Celtic backgrounded DH I think it would maybe not work brilliantly! )
