If it comes down to Ellen or Evelyn, Evelyn wins hands down with me.

Mary is in the top 100 in Ireland....

I'm the mom of a Mary (who is almost a year old), and the aunt of an Evelyn (my sister's daughter, born just five weeks after Mary), so I love both those names.

If I'm honest though, I actually find Evelyn more old-fashioned than Mary, as it's one of those vintage chic names that have come back into fashion in recent years. Whereas Mary is more timeless and traditional. And my sister agrees, the reason she used Evelyn, is she likes vintage chic names.

Although her first name on her BC is just Mary, my daughter's middle name is Claude (the name of my late French grandfather, and it's actually a gender free name), so sometimes we call her Mary Claude. We also call her Malle (pr. Mally) sometimes, which is an archaic English nickname for Mary, and the name from which Molly was born.

I like Evelyn most out of your choices.
Ann-Marie sounds very mediterranean and dated. I'm not keen.
I'm not quite ready for Mary yet. I met a girl called Mary when we were about 13, and remember thinking how dreadfully old-fashioned it was.

I imagine it's probably quite cute on a little girl nowadays though.
